A friend just returned from Vegas & thought Battista's Hole In the Wall was absolutly great, especially the
so-called "free wine".
Does anyone have any opinions on this place?
It looks like a dump to me(IMHO).

The wine is pretty bad. I consider it not drinkable. The food was actually pretty good. Very loud, it is good for a group but they will not do separate checks. To many decent places to eat to go back to Battistas for me.
We went years ago with a group and I'd never go back. The food was sub-par Olive Garden mom-n-pop stuff, the wine was horrific (what's worse than boxed wine? This stuff) and the service was marginal. Keep looking!
Another no vote for Battista's.
I went for the first time last year & LOVED it! It is NOT high end new Italian--just the opposite. This is old school, classic Italian dishes served in a NYC--type joint. The wine is pretty typical "house wine." I am gluten free & they had gluten free pasta. Will be back!
I remember years ago on this site just the mention of this place would generate the great debate. You either loved it or hated it.Personnally,Im not much of a wine drinker so can't speak to that. But thought the food was just ok.
I approach Italian food the same way I do booze. Its got a ton of calories and carbs. If I am going to put something that unhealthy in my body then I am at least going to pay up and get the good stuff.
Tuscany Gardens is my go-to Italian spot in Vegas. Food is as good as Olives at the Bellagio but cheaper.
Another place for good Italian is Nora's on Flamingo, just west of the Gold Coast.
I guess there is a reason why it is called a "Hole in the wall".
