Billy Bob's next sam's town restaurant to close?

As a followup to the LVA news note June 13 re. closings/revamping of the Boyd properties in Las Vegas:

In eating at the venerable Billy Bob's steak house on Wednesday night at Sam's Town, we asked one of the long-time waiters if he knew what restaurant would be replacing Willy&Jose's, the Mexican restaurant.

He said it would be a 'high-end' steak house, also that Billy Bob's would be closing and replaced by a barbecue restaurant. Both new outlets would be Boyd restaurants, not chain outlets. The new steak house is slated to open mid-August.

The wife and I have eaten more than our share of beef over the years at Billy Bob's, more times than not on a comp. If it does close, we'll miss the place.

Construction is already evident in the atrium area where Willy&Jose's was located next door to Billy Bob's.

Also, Roberto's, the new chain Mexican outlet in the food court area, is open 24 hours, according to numerous postings around the casino.

Closing Billy Bob's could possible be a deal breaker for me.Sam's used to have a higher end steakhouse before Billy Bob's,Diamond Lil's.Christ,get rid of TGIFridays before Billy Bob's.

We will be really sad when they close Billy Bob's. We have always loved eating there and when we got married we had our wedding dinner there.

Hoping they are open until at least 7/30 so we can have one last dinner there.

They are closing July 24th. We had a reservation for August 6th and they left a message that they are closing July 24th. So bummed! Loved their early bird prime rib special.

Billy Bob's is supposed to become some sort of barbque restaurant and the old Mexican restaurant is to become a fancier steakhouse.

Kblife, thank you for letting me know!!! We leave for Vegas late 7/23 and were debating on waiting until mid week to make a reservation. I called tonight and was able to get a reservation for 7/24 at 5pm. One last dinner at our favorite steak place in Vegas.

Geez those prices at the new steakhouse seem way to high for Sams. We too will miss BillyBobs
