Buffet - getting your own drinks

The Luxor post below brought up buffets making you get your own drinks (Luxor, Mirage, etc.). I actually think it's great- I don't mind getting up to get my original drink and refills. Usually the staff in buffets is overtaxed and it takes a while getting drinks - I would just as soon get my own. Plus any exercise I get while gorging at a buffet is probably a good thing.

Any thoughts or opinions?

We completely agree. As you say, often the staff is running around like crazy-we much prefer to be able to get our own when we wish.
If I'm going to be up anyway getting food, getting a drink is not a bother.

I agree, I don't mind at all.

It all depends where the drink station is located in relation to the table. Since I am not able to carry both a plate and drink at the same time (due to RA), I would prefer to have a server bring my drink to the table.

I have no issue with getting my on drink. May guarantee that I have my drink by the time I bring the food back to my table.
Unless the server is super on the ball, I'd prefer it. I've had on occasion a super helpful, attentive and friendly server, which can be nice (big tip!), but generally, as others have said, a lot of buffets seem understaffed and the servers are really busy. Since we're getting up to get our own food anyway, adding drinks to that wouldn't be a big deal to me personally.
