Ate there last Friday night and it will be the last time I eat there. What a HUGE dissappointment. Patti and I were really looking forward to this new Mexican restaurant at the Flamingo. Spent hte day at the pool where announcement was made that your pool wristband get you 2 for 1 drinks at Carlos n Charlies. Made reseervations via OpenTable for 8pm and got there at 7:45pm and saw line of about 8 couples. Patti went to desk asking if at 8pm we should go in line or come up to desk. They said we could come in right away. Unexpected but nice.
Got a table in the bar area, a little noisy, but not bad.........saw the Devils clinch in OT and was happy and ready for a good meal. Ordered two margaritas on the rocks and showed our wristbands from pool. No problem. He comes back with two frozen margaritas......."oops, I'll be right back". A few minutes comes back with same frozen ones "that's the 2 4 1 deal" Ok........but shouldn't he have known that when we ordered?
Ordered our shared appetizer, chips n salsa. For dinner I ordered the Chicken Flautas and Patti had one of the special burritos. Within a few minutes, dinner arrived! But what about our appetizer??? "Oh, do you still want it?" Ah, no....too late for that. How can Chips n Salsa not make it out before a meal? And how did the meal come out so fast on a fairly busy night? Then it went REAL bad. My Chicken Flautas were barely warm! How can something that is fried in oil come out so lukewarm? The refried beans were so cold they coagulated and were like lumpy playdough. Pattis dinner was warmer, but tasteless. I ate two of the flautas and couldn't stomach the rest as they got cold so quickly.
Waiter comes back with huge smile on his face "So how was everything?" Worst meal in my life I replied. Still smiling he says "That's great so now can I.....what? oh, really? Can I get you something else?" I said, yes the check, I want to get out of here as soon as possible. He was stunned. He comes back witht he check and says the manager tok the flautas off the bill. Gee thanks, so now the stomach ache thats brewing was free! Maybe we can get it as an MRB Online coupon. Free indigestion with the purchase of a drink! Manager never came to table to check into the matter, saw him peering around the corner from the kitchen.
So like many of you, we will greatly miss Gardunos............maybe CET can get them to move into the Carlos n Charlies spot and serve some quality foodand get rid of this lousy place.
