I saw that Casino Montelago was mentioned in this month's edition of the LVA. $9.95 for steak and a martini on Mondays.
I almost hate to mention this special, as my wife and I have been there for the last two Mondays, and there's enough of a wait already. However, as I really like the casino and the surrounding area, I'd like for the place to do well.
I assumed the steak would be some cheap piece of meat, with sides offered at pricy add-ons, since they didn't identify the cut. That's not the case. It's an excellent 6oz filet mignon, along with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Both my wife and I found the filet to be incredibly tender and tasty (even though she likes hers medium well - I prefer mine rare). Trust me that the filet was really good - it's pretty much the only cut of meat that I eat anymore (with the exception of prime rib now and then), and I've had them all over town on a weekly basis. The asparagus is very good, although on both occasions, the mashed potatoes were not very hot.
Honestly, I left the potatoes on both occasions, but am thinking that next Monday I'll just order 2 of the specials. Where else can you get 2 martinis and 12 ounces of filet mignon with sides for $20?
Side note - we ate at Henry's Bar both times, instead of waiting 1-2 hours for a table. If you see a tall guy with a short wife at the bar eating filets on Monday night, stop by and say hello.
BTW, I don't live at LLV, nor within 12miles or so of there, so I'm not just trying to drum up business for them....I live about a mile from GVR. Black Mountain Grill on Eastern also serves an excellent filet, and Veloce Cibo at M does so as well (as long as you order the sauces on the side at both places).
