Ellis Island Eggnog

Wondering if anyone has ever bought bottle of eggnog to take home on plane and how you did it and did it work without breaking bottle.  I also realize that you need to keep bottle chilled.  I have an idea of how I might try it but hoping someone has actually done it and will tell how and if it worked.  Thanks!

Save up some plastic liquor bottles to divide the nog into and pack in your suitcase.  How long is your flight?  Can you pack dry ice around it?  Check with the airline (web site Q&A or call them).

I've seen people checking fresh-caught fish in dry ice carriers.

Ask Ellis Island if they ship it.  Probably a long shot, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I've taken home free bottles of hooch from casino giveaways in the past.   I just wrap them in clothes inside my suitcase.   Better than bubblewrap.     And I dont think you need to worry about keeping the eggnog chilled.

They dont really heat the cargo area of the plane and its winter.....your bottle should stay pretty close to refridgerator temperature without any need for icing it down.

Thanks for the ideas.  We live in Ohio and I know that Ethel M's aren't allowed to ship the liqueur chocolates to us so even if Ellis Island would ship it they wouldn't to Ohio.  Good idea about plastic bottles.  Thanks!

Ethel M's  liquer chocolates are at the  airport for the same price as in the (upper) California store. They fit nicely inside my carry-on. They are a pleasant remedy for a mild hangover.

A re usable "cold pack" would work to ship it VIA USPS from the post office, downtown. That is how I get my chocolate from ebay.

A small Priority mail box works fine. I think it costs 7 bucks.

A cold pack will NOT get far in your carry on.TSA will snag it.

Checked bags go in the cargo hold. Yes, it's cold in there, PJ.

$35 a bottle, considered it this last w/e but even though we've had good luck bringing home free bottle of booze in our suitcase in the past we didn't want to chance it this time.

Was looking forward to Ellis Island eggnog but not to be this year.  Decided to cancel trip due to virus and increasing restrictions.  We sure hope 2021 is a better year and hopefully visit next year.

In years past I could use my LVA drink coupon for free glasses of the egg nog.  This year it was not allowed...nor could it be comped by playing video poker at the bar.     So if you want a glass you have to pay their full price of seven dollars

Dammit, really? I've saved the LVA coupon several times in the past to get myself and two friends a couple of glasses of nog each.

They should at least comp the damn stuff if you're playing. This is just one of the thousands of little reductions in value and cheap-ass mini-ripoffs that are happening in Vegas right now. Also at EI--you used to get a nice tall glass of their terrific root beer. Now you get a thimble.

Another cheap-ass maneuver I saw on my trip a few months ago is that South Point removed all the buffet twofer coupons from their funbooks. Imagine being the guy who had to go through several thousand of them, one by one, and tear out all the coupons. You could still see the perforations.

I still enjoy Ellis Island.....to each their own.
