My wife and I tried this the first week in August, and it certainly deserves it's top ten LVA billing. We had no reservations, but at 12:10 pm the place was less than 1/3 full. By the time we left it was probably only 2/3 full. It was WAY TOO HOT to eat outside, though the tables looked great out there.
This is truly a gourmet experience, without the gourmet price. Portions are not large, but the three courses were more than enough to satisfy at lunch. (And if you look at their dinner menu, you'll see the prices are more than doubled.) (The menu for lunch and dinner is available on line at the cosmopolitan LV website.)
Lots of choices for appetizers and the main course. My wife had the greek tomato salad and I had the scallops with mint and citrus for the appetizers. Both were simple and perfect. The salad was straight from a greek cafe, and the scallops perfectly seared and sweet.
Our entrees were lavraki (something like trout) for me and salmon for her. She requested the salmon be completly cooked as she likes everything well done, and they did it perfectly, without it being dry. The lavraki was a whole fish with a light caper sauce, and was excellent. Different kinds of green vegetables came with each entree. For dessert we both had karidopita me pagoto (cake with whipped topping) that tasted of nuts and honey (similar flavor to baklava) - delicious.
Service was great - almost too attentive. Water glasses never got down more than an inch before refilling, and our waiter was constantly on hand to offer assistance if needed. There were also three gentlemen in suits (managers/supervisors/whatever) and all three of them stopped at the table and inquired how the food was, how we were doing, where we were from, etc. They never interrupted the meal, but came close!
I like wine, but am of the opinion that you don't need to spend a lot of money to get some pretty good stuff. The wine here may be great, but we didn't want to spend $85 to $135 for a bottle of wine. The tap water tasted great!
Another restaurant has been added to our must do list.
