Favorite Vegas Steakhouse

Our orignal Favorite was the Victoria Room at Barbary Coast/ Bills.. Not sure of the time line.

When Victoria closed we fell in Love with the R steakhouse at the Rivera

When the Riv closed we moved to the Flame at El Cortez.  The Steak Diane was my favoite and the wine list was great with the great bread.

The Flame was terrific. The prices were awesomely low, and you could pay for meals 1/2 price with points. The El Cortez used to be such a great place to stay, play, and eat. Now, it's the El Corpse.

I used to love the Steakhouse at Circus Circus Circus Circus. The atmosphere was totally different from the rest of the casino. The food wasn't pink and the waiters weren't dressed like clowns! I always called that casino the Pepto Bismol Pepto Bismol.

The best value steakhouses now are Cornerstone at the Gold Coast and Fuego at Fiesta Henderson. Though you can never ignore the steak deal at Ellis Island--the steak is about three times as good as you would expect for the price.

We also used to like Canal Street at the Orleans.  The huge Mural was so cool.  Fuego is still one of Our favorites along with the Charcoal room at the Palace station and Sonoma Cellar at Sunset Station.

We feel the best options for Cornerstone are for happy hour in the lounge

I like comped steaks the best....and the best, most easily obtained, comped steak can be had at Tuscany Gardens at the Tuscany Hotel.    They have big point mulitplier days twice a week and its easy to get a free meal at their featured restaurant.    Their steaks are awesome and their Italian Food and wine list rival anything found on the strip.     Its a must every trip for me now.

Thanks for the recomendation, we used to love the mexican place, and the video poker, but have not been back for a few years.

First off, I'm pretty tight so we havent eaten at many expensive steakhouses. We ate once at The Steakhouse at full price at Circus Circus quite a few yeas ago and weren't blown away by it. We enjoyed Waverly's at The Cannery? We love DiSimone's at Railroad pass.

The last two with some sort of discount. I know DiSimone's has always been with a Groupon.

Here's a bonus tip: go to the Cornerstone at the Gold Coast. Both the LVA and the ACG books have $20-off coupons. Not only that, you can stop by the front desk and say, "I forgot to get my coupon book when I checked in" and they'll give you a book with a $20-off coupon in it. (Yes, lie if you have to. Give 'em a nonexistent room number if they ask; they'll never check.)

You can ask for separate checks and each member of your party can use one of the coupons. Best $20 meal in town--without the coupons, you can get out for $40 per person. The quality of the food and the service are as good as if you were paying twice as much.

And BTW, tip as you would if you were paying full price.

Unfortunately, they removed their 8/5 Bonus Poker some time ago...so the only option you have now is several 99% games. It would normally be better to just pay cash rather than try to earn 6x points at a base rate of 0.1% (which would not make up for the 1% house edge you would be fading). However, on Tuesdays, you still get a 3X points multiplier and $1000 coin-in gets you $10 free play--so, slightly positive.

I've never explored what they send you in mailers, and that's probably changed drastically anyway.

Thanks for the tip Kevin. I tried to convince my wife to go there on our last trip but we never made it. We've been to Vegas quite a few times and we've got a decent amount of "every trip" places that we try our best to hit, so I almost have to plan in advance in order to make room for a new place to try.

What is your opinion of Baliwick(?) at Orleans which has also been in both books. With the little research I've done it seems to be less of a restaurant than Cornerstone.

My rating of Bailiwick is a -12 on a scale of 1 to 10. Rarely have I eaten at someplace where I just didn't like the food, but this place---bleah!
