Flame closing

My wife and I are very sad to lose Flame at EC. We've been going to Roberta's/Flame for 20 years at least once per trip and often twice. The food and service was always great and with the discounts from the POV/MRB and the ACG (and they allowed you to double up) I think it was the best quality/value play in town. We've been to and enjoyed many of the steakhouses in Vegas, but the Flame will always be number One.

It looks like rumors of The Flames' demise are not entirely accurate.

Seems that the name's changing to Siegel 1941 (meh), and it'll move over to the coffee shop's current location.

We shall see. Having watched the place devolve for a few years, my guess is that a substantial downgrade is in the works, and that what we think of as Roberta's/Flame is going away, to be replaced by something inferior.
Going in 2 weeks. Are crabs "in?" Bringback careful kittys I tell you! Good luck!

El Cortez: El Cortez Hotel & Casino will introduce a new dining concept to the property this fall with Siegel’s 1941, a homage to the rich history of the city and its longest continuously running hotel-casino. To make way for the new 24-hour restaurant, The Flame Steakhouse will close its doors on Sunday, August 31. Encompassing the spirit of classic Vegas, Siegel’s 1941 will seamlessly blend the authentic vintage feel of the El Cortez with a modern interpretation of your traditional Las Vegas 24-hour dining establishment. The space will boast a historic look utilizing original design elements and an impressive display of archival artwork throughout the restaurant. Diners are promised elevated fare from the ‘Morning. Noon. Night.’ menus that are sure to please the palates of locals and property guests alike. New chef-driven menu items will be highlighted while favorites from The Flame, such as the classic roasted prime rib and seasonal stone crab, will be available for guests to enjoy. Siegel’s 1941 will take over the space currently used by The Flame, famous for serving loyal patrons world-class steaks and fresh seafood flown in daily. The El Cortez invites guests to enjoy the last days of The Flame before the final night of service on Sunday, August 31. Reservations can be made by visiting www.elcortezhotelcasino.com/dining/the-flame/ or by phone at 702.385.5200. (Hint: time to use your 2014 ACG coupon for 50% off at The Flame before it closes!)

It looks like they will be keeping many of the same menu items....the current mailer from El Cortez is advertising "Walleyed Pike" at the Diner thoughout August - thats been a staple of the Flame's menu going back to the days when it was called Roberta's. Makes me think they are keeping the same chef-team.

I've got $80 in comps sitting on my card right now. I was looking forward to a couple nice meals at the Flame in September. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to spend at the diner.
Time will tell. The 24/7 makes me skeptical. Doesn't bode well for quality. There is a reason places don't open until 5 p.m.

I will be open-minded.
I will be there Aug 31st, there last nite. I think your out of luck for Sept.
If I had to guess I'd say they will be keeping some high end dining options on the menu. They need something to keep their higher end players coming back. Comps for their cheap rooms and breakfast wont be enough. If you cant build up comps for a good steak dinner I cant imagine people will continue to build up play there. I know I wont....not when "The D" has Andiamano's.
