gluten free options

I'm sure this was tackled once before, but this is my first Vegas trip since being diagnosed with a gluten intolerance. I'm sure I can navigate my way around the buffets, but knowing how the restaurant market changes rapidly in Vegas, juts wondering if the Gluten Free listings here are current, or if anyone knows of any places that offer a gluten free menu if asked.
Border Grill at Mandalay Bay bent over backwards to accomodate a friend of mine who has celiac disease. Lawry's Prime Rib was more than happy to bring my friend a salad with a different kind of dressing, as a substitution for their regular "spinning salad". Their menu was varied enough to provide her with ample gluten free selections. I am dining in a couple of weeks at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse. They advertise as being gluten friendly and have a gluten free menu on their website. It is located west of the Strip, on Charleston or Spring Mtn Rd (can't remember which) near Durango. Perhaps our resident restaurant expert, Westie, can weigh in on this question. Good luck.

Glasses can affect your vision; especially when they have been emptied several times..........
So we ate at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse last Sunday night. It is located on Charleston Ave, just west of Durango. They had a separate gluten free menu to order from, but most of the selections from the standard menu were gluten free. Our waiter was able to advise my dining partner which items she might want to avoid, as he couldn't guarantee that it might contain some gluten containing components. At no time did he make my tablemate feel uncomfortable about her dietary restrictions. Prime rib is the house special on Sundays, which includes salad, a side dish and dessert. I was impressed with their wine list; with many choices to order by the glass. The wait staff was excellent; very engaging. It is a long haul to get to the restaurant from the strip, but it was worth it. The waiter told me that they have a restaurant in Minneapolis....will be dining there soon.
My 18yo daughter, who has celiac disease, just came to Vegas with us and we found a few good places. Maggiano's at the Fashion Show Mall right across from Wynn has a GF menu. The chef came out to us which is always comforting to know that they "get it." Any of the better steak houses will accomodate. PF Chang has a GF menu and several locations. For breakfast, The Cracked Egg was OUTSTANDING. You will need a car to get there, though. Check out the web site for locations: https://www.thecrackedegg.com/.

Sounds like you are new to this so I might respectfully comment on navigating around buffets. They are a cross contamination nightmare both out on the floor and out back during prep. I would be really careful. Additionally, they have no reason to worry about GF food so many things have hidden gluten in them. For instance, we inquired about the omlette mix at one of the buffets, and modified food starch (gluten) was in the omlette mix.

My wife has celiac disease and since we visit Vegas often eating gluten free is a constant study. The list on Las Vegas Advisor is a good start. There is an Outback near the Casino Royale and as I am sure you know Outback has a gluten free menu. The PF Changs at Planet Hollywood is great for both gluten free eating and service. The previously mentioned Cracked Egg has gluten free pancakes but as stated it is several miles from the Strip. Finally the greatest burger place of all time In and Out Burger will wrap their great burgers in Lettuce and their fries are gluten free. I also agree with the "do not trust" the buffet comment. My wife has been harmed by buffet food over the years. In addition if the breakfast cook is using an egg mix for cooking do not accept it. Ask the cook to "break some eggs" for you. Holding a tip in hand will help. We stay in a condo (usually the Grandview next to South Point) when travel time allows so my wife can shop at a grocery, prepare some food herself, refrig gluten free leftovers for later and keep her Red Bridge beer (gluten free of course) cold. Red Bridge can be found at most Vegas liquor stores these days. Enjoy your visit and hopefully the food problem will be taken care of by knowledgable LVA message board folks.
