Golden Corral to replace Imperial Palace Emperor's Buffet?

CET sent me a survey about their LV properties getting to the point that they were really asking if a Golden Corral would bring me to Imperial Palace more. In true marketing survey style the questions are biased. They ask if you've visited Imperial Palace(and the other properties). They didn't ask if I've gambled, eaten, or stayed at Imperial Palace. Yes, I've "visited" IP, but just to see it. Would I like a Golden Corral to replace the Emperor's Buffet at IP, wouldn't know, I've never eaten at either one. That was not a choice offered.

This was not a survey where you could make comments at the end of the survey either.
I also received the survey. One of the other options questioned was whether or not a CiCi's pizza buffet would be appropriate (or appealing). I answered negatively to the pizza buffet and further questions only pertained to Golden Corral.

Anything would be better than the current IP Buffet but the homogenization of Vegas is a turn off for my expectations. If I wanted a Golden Corral experience or CiCi's or Ruby Tuesday or TGIF I can get that anywhere. When I go to Vegas I am looking forward to enjoying unique experiences that I don't have access to on a regular basis.

I wouldn't go to a McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, Denny's, etc in Vegas either. I have not been to a Hash House a Go Go but would consider it since it is not a restaurant readily available and appears to offer a unique dining experience.

Having been a regular visitor to Vegas over the last 15 years (multiple visits per year), I am finding more fulfilling vacation experiences elsewhere. Spending a week at the beach or going on a 10 or 14 day cruise have become favorite alternatives. This is especially true with all the proliferation of gambling availability in other states.

Vegas needs to keep itself a unique destination to keep me coming back.

Sorry but what is a Golden Corral?
Like a Ponderosa?
They should cut out the food on that floor and put in a Bingo Hall

Golden Corral is a distinct step above Ponderosa but certainly nothing you would go out of your way for. A comparable buffet in Vegas would be the one at Gold Coast.

Neither Golden Corral or CiCi's would interest me. We have both of those within 5 minutes of our house and have not been to either one nor are we planning to go in the future. So if I wouldn't go at home, why in the world would I got to either in Vegas???

Agree with carolemike; the trend of replacing old-school coffee shops with crappy nationwide chains is really disturbing to me. I know that some people are very hung up on familiar food.

As for replacing the IP buffet, it comes down to replacing poison with less bad poison.
I was hoping the trend was reversing once the Stations casinos starting going back to the old school coffee shops.I also will not visit Golden Coral or CiCi's in Vegas.
As I have said before, I know that there are many people who are just happy with what's already familiar to them and so they would be happier with the chains that they already know also being in LV. They may be too afraid that something new will possibly end up being bad and maybe they think that they may already be taking enough gambles while being in LV.

I'm unopposed to trying new things when out although there aren't really any Kosher food chains (at least none that have anything substantial) anywhere and so basically any choice that I have in Las Vegas is new and not from some chain restaurant.

This news is a bit like your doctor telling you it's not incurable cancer, rather ALS.
I do not go anywhere to eat in Vegas that I can find in Florida or elsewhere (excepting In and Out Burger cause they do not have them in the East that I have seen.)

The Golden Corral near me was closed due to health reasons and reopened after about 18 months. Not like Ponderosa in that they grill bigger pieces of meat and cut you a chunk when you walk up. I rate it about a 4-5 but I once had a roach on my plate there so I am tainted.

I do not think anyone would go there. It is about $11 a person for dinner plus drink so Station has them beat if you have a car. No car maybe it would work cause it would be about 1/3-1/2 price of Harrah's buffets.
