Group Dinner

What are everyone's current thoughts on a good reasonalby priced dinner option on The Strip for about 18 people on a Thursday night? My preference is for everyone to be able to sit as a group at one, two or three large tables.

My default option is going to be the Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood but I am looking for some other ideas within walking distance (say anywhere between MGM and the Venitian).

By way of further information, I am getting married in Las Vegas in a two weeks. We have scheduled the wedding dinner for the patio at Prime, and the night before that we are gathering in our suite at the Cosmopolitan for pizza from the secret pizza parlor. This dinner is something casual for the midweek early arrivals.
i don't expect to be the person with the magic suggestion However if your default is to go to the Spice Market buffet...........And you wind up going with the default option perhaps you might go to the Cosmopolitan Wicked Spooon Buffet instead. My guess would be that with a phone call you could arrange for your group to be seated in a way that would work and that you could all be in the same area. Living here while I have certain favorites I think the Cosmopolitan is a real winner. They have a great collection of restaurants and after dinner it might be fun to get a drink at the Chandelier bar. They make some really interesting drinks. I experienced sort of a campfire sort of hot chocolate with several types of chocolate liquor and torched marshmallow on top. It is just a fun and up beat venue with some of if not the nicest rooms on the strip. Good luck.
I am not a snob when it comes to have a large group seated together for an extra special buffet. I lost my darling mother a little over a year ago and I hosted a buffet at the red rock for 28 people on a Sunday. Every body had what ever they wanted to eat with champagne and all were happy. I arranged in advance and the staff could not have been more helpful . Being a professional musician I have attended many events over the years . With so many people having preferences and issues on what they will or won't eat. I just like my guests to have options and let every one from the vegan to the Prime Rib lover ..........let it rip and have a ball......................just my 2 cents worth!!!!!!!!!LOL
Thanks jazzlover.

So are you saying that you have tried both buffets and you think it is the better choice or is it that you just like the overall atmosphere at the Cosmo.

By way of reference, how would you compare dinner at either of these choices with the Red Rock dinner buffet? We have eaten at Red Rock but not the other two.
It has been a while since I have been to the Spice Mkt Buffet ( years) . The 2 buffets that I enjoy the most on the Strip are the Wynn and the Cosmopolitan. From my walk through of the Spice Mkt and actually eating at the Cosmopolitan The Cosmo is my favorite. I feel that they work hard at doing a good job and that the quality is very good overall. From my experience the Cosmopolitan Buffet is a superior product to not only the Red Rock but any of the Station Casinos. In terms of the Spice Market is has been a long time since I have sampled their food so I don't have much to say.
These days if I have company and want to show off my town with a buffet and I want to hit the strip it is either the Wynn or the Cosmopolitan. If I am concerned/paranoid about my odds for getting good service I slant towards the Wynn but have gotten great service at the Cosmopolitan as well. For a group their is usually n manager or someone over seeing the servers in the general area of the guests that you can communicate with.
I like to walk off my meal and the Cosmopolitan has shops to look at and interesting artwork . Not that we are on the subject of the Wynn but they also have nice things to look at while taking a stroll indoors after eating. What ever you come up with I wish you best of luck with your upcoming marriage and lots of good health happiness and plenty of laughter.
As an after thought I have an interesting story from a few years ago.. I knew of a couple with well to do parents that offered to pay for a wedding spectacular at the Green Valley ranch. For a hundred guests it was going to be over a hundred dollars per plate and that was just the food( assigned meal) not counting room , flowers and every thing else. The parents gave the couple the choice of a super wedding or giving them the cash instead to prepare for their future together. They got in touch with the Buffet Department and for a little over 2K with tip had their party in a roped off section of the buffet and the staff did a really nice job of decorating their area and making it special. The guests had freedom to dine on what ever they liked and the couple had their party and plenty of loot to start their life together from the parents. Thats it I am through writing for the day!!!!!!!!!!

I eat at Spice Market plenty...they have some great areas to sit a group like that. Plenty of coupons at the Total Rewards with a Fun Book. The Miracle Mile Shops are there for pre or post dinner walking. If the group likes Italian Battista's back behind Bill's is good for a group.
Thanks for the help.

What do you think of the Social House Happy Hour as a non-buffet alternative? I know there isn't anyplace for 18 people to sit but I assume we can stand and mingle and I wonder if on Thursday we might almost have the place to ourselves.
We ultimately settled on the Social Hour at the Social House for our Thursday night gathering:

Social Hour

It ended up working very well. As expected our group of 18 couldn't really sit in the lounge area. Instead we mingled while standing or sitting at the bar and noshed on appetisers, which were scrumptious. There weren't many people other than us and they had plenty of room in the lounge area.

The place was hard to find. When entering from the Strip it is on the second level all the way around on the other side facing away from the center open area. Since it faces away, you can't see it from across the open area. Just head around and past Puck's place on the right and you will see it.
