We went to Heraea at the Palms (where Garduno's used to be) yesterday for lunch. First, it was noon and there was nobody out front directing diners to where they need to go, so us and another couple walked into the empty restaurant looking for someone. Scott finally went all the way to the back where the bar is located (by the pool) and was told that the main restaurant isn't open until 4pm -- only the tables by the bar and right outside by the pool are open. We took a table inside in clear view of the bartender (too hot outside to even consider dining out there).
We were given drinking water in GLASS glasses, but when we ordered our soda and Arnold Palmer they were served to us in plastic glasses. (WTF?!) I thought maybe because it was by the pool (?) but we saw several people walk outside to the pool area THROUGH this portion of the restaurant with glass beer bottles in hand.
The menu kinda leaves a lot to be desired, in terms of variety. I was hoping for something semi-healthy, but that was not to be found. We ordered chicken strips ($10) and a burger (came with fries for $12) (both to split).
We sat and sat and sat and sat... and then sat some more. Probably a half hour had gone by when the bartender came up to our table and apologized saying that he looked over and saw that we still had no food, so he went to check and saw that the ticket never printed out in the back. (WTF?!) He said because we waited so long he would comp our chicken strips and claimed that they were now cooking and would be out in 3 minutes. Another 10 minutes or so go by and we finally got them. They were awful. If anyone has had frozen Tyson breaded chicken strips from the grocery store then you've had these. Heavily breaded and tough with barely any chicken in them. When we sat at the table there were little 4" square bread plates and that's what we had to use to try to cut these tough chicken strips on. We were hungry, though, so we ate them. The plates were cleared and then we waited a short time for our burger. When it came (pre-cut in half because we said we were splitting) we had no plates to put our portions on. They finally noticed and brought some over. The burger was okay, but nothing special. The fries were skinny fries and were tasty.
Even though we were right next to the bar our waters weren't refilled (even though my glass was empty). The bartender did bring over a refill Arnold Palmer for Scott, but I had to ask for a coke refill after my glass had been empty for quite some time.
They did, indeed, comp the chicken strips (thank goodness), but I can't recommend this place. I think it's unconscionable to serve 4 frozen chicken strips for $10 in a Las Vegas eatery of this type.
I know this may sound pretty harsh, but it's my opinion!
