LVA: Best Cheesesteak in Town at Capriotti's

I was surprised to read in the April issue published today that LVA thinks the chain Capriotti's has the best cheesesteaks in town. It was stated as an aside, not as part of a full analysis, but was declared just that boldly: "the best cheesesteaks in town."

I've never had a Capriotti cheesesteak, but I will now. Think it indeed is the best?
I haven't had others in town so I can't compare, but the cheesesteak there is really good and it's huge.

Having said that, if you're going to eat at Capriotti's, have the Bobby(ie) - the Thanksgiving dinner on a sub roll.
I've never had the cheesesteak, but we did eat at Capriotti's and enjoyed the subs we got -- we'll go back there for sure.
I tried a number of cheesesteaks in Vegas including Capriotti's, Pop's, some place in a mall, a small stand in Arizona Charlies, and a place in a gas station by the airport.

I was disappointed in Capriotti's -- it had no seasoning, and the meat was grilled very quickly with the onions so it didn't take on any bark or crust.

If you go to Capriotti's, you're better off with the pastrami or the Bobbie IMHO.

For cheesesteak, I found Pop's to be very good, and the place in the gas station second.

I think Capriotti's mushroom cheesestake is #1!!
I've had Capriotti's cheesesteaks in San diego and thought they were ok at best, not bad but had much better. I grew up in Philly. Anyone wanting a really good Philly Steak in Southern Cal can go to a little shop in San Marcos Calif. called Philly franks. They import their meats and bread from Philly. The best I've had since I've moved to the west coast. phillyfranks.com
I'm always looking for an interesting non-national chain place to try when I'm on the road.
I've been known to be in the Escondido area at times. I'll keep Philly Franks on a list of places to try.
I wish Pat's Steaks would open franchise's !!!!! Always wondered who was the first to "pervert" a cheese steak with peppers and or mushrooms !!!!
I think Pat's steaks did try to franchise out in the mid 80's but it didn't work out.
I remember going to a Pat's in northeast philly on busleton above cottman ave.
It was an old jack in the box with a drive thur. Never knew what happen as I move to the west coast soon after.
