Mirage Buffet

My wife and I usually go to the Mirage Buffet 2-4 times a year. Saturday may have been our last. When they switched to serve your own drinks, that made us question what was going on there. Now they started charging $5 per person for champagne/mimosas for the weekend brunch. We decided not to pay the extra charge this trip. We barely ever saw our waitress because of this. We usually leave a $7-$8 tip. What's the sense in tipping now, other than picking up our empty plates? This used to be one of our favorites. We're not sure how others feel about this.
I cant think of any other buffet that is such a roller coaster of quality. Every two years they go from one of the highest rated buffets....and then erode into dog food ....and then climb back up to the top again....and now your experience.

The Mirage is still considered a 4 star property . They should be offering a buffet that is commensurate with that rating. Seems like they struggle to consistently maintain that.
Haven't been to Mirage buffet ever.

For two diners, husband and I leave $2-$3, the higher amount if the server is sufficiently attentive. Would do $5 if champagne is included and the server is really good, friendly, attentive, etc.

I don't care for those serve yourself (coffee, etc.) buffets either. Once one sits down, you shouldn't have to hop up and down for drink refills.

At the Gold Strike in Tunica I've had to remove empty coffee cup racks to get one for myself, more than once. I included that on my guest survey. Probably didn't change anything.

We've stayed at the Mirage many times. We always liked the buffet for breakfast. But I don't like getting my own drinks. They used to put a small carafe of coffee on the table. Now I have to make three separate trips and hunt down the cream and sweetener each time. Not sure what the server is even there for anymore. I guess they clear the plates. I had to get my own ketchup too. Not worth the price unless you have a 2 for 1 from Myvegas or MRB. I usually leave $4, two bucks for each of us.

I like the Mirage buffet. Always go there with the LVA 2-1 coupon. As for having to get my own drinks, I couldn't care less.
I have never tried Mirage buffet, but I have wanted to. I like good food, and if it is good, I'd be ok with getting my own drinks. perhaps they should take the money that they save by having fewer servers and put it into better food quality. yeah right, who am I kidding? no bean counters would go for that.
