The Old School List

My local paper recently listed several of the oldest restaurants in Vegas and I'm curious to see your opinions.

The list is:

Bob Taylor's Original Ranch House
The Golden Steer
Macayo's Mexicn Kitchen
Chapala's Mexican Restaurant
Dona Maria
The Peppermill
Chicago Joe's
Andre's
Piero's
Bootlegger Italian Bistro

I'm mostly interested in the Italian restaurants - we eat plenty of Mexican and steaks in LV - but welcome your opinion on any of these.
OK, but it's been eons since we were there
Old school but that doesn't mean it's living on some hollow legend; still brings it
Never been
Never been
Good tamales, skip the rest
WAY overrated
Good lunch spot
The original -- and to me the "best" -- is gone from downtown but still going strong at MC and Palms.
Outstanding
Immense value
I was in Peppermill a couple of weeks ago. It was OK. Seems like the place where people wanted to be seen more than the going for the food. Everyone was looking at everyone else. It was funny I thought.
Nice slide show of nice places (like Florence and Venice) just like the lobby of Peppermill Hotel and Casino in Reno, so I guess they are related.

I had chicken parm I would say it was a bit above average. Friend had something Mexican she liked it.

I would give it a try. $15-25 for an entree.

Piero's last year, decent filet steak, dessert and ambiance. $50 steak.

Never been to the others.

Bob Taylor's Original Ranch House-Out of the way but a good steak and lot's of history
The Golden Steer- Good steak and bakers as big as your head. Pricey but ya got to love sitting in a booth where Frank, Dean and Sammy once sat.
Macayo's Mexicn Kitchen-Good (In my opinion best of the three Mexican choices listed here)
Chapala's Mexican Restaurant-Good
Dona Maria-Tamales are their claim to fame
The Peppermill- Good breakfast but the lounge is why I go back to Peppermill
Chicago Joe's-One of the places we like to go for pizza
Andre's-Excellent but the original seemed better.
Piero's-Never a bad meal here higher quality and prices than Bootleggers
Bootlegger Italian Bistro-Open 24/7 and we like the food. We like Bootleggers for the local entertainment in the lounge where it's always lively and it's hard to know what to expect. Open mic night is a hoot.

I didn't think that Chicago Joe's was that old...
