Oscar's Beef, Booze and Broads

Not much activity around this topic in the last many months, so .... Hope this works better in "restaurants" than "downtown."

What are the current thoughts about this place? We want to go with my mother-in-law (age 85), who's returning to Vegas for a birthday visit after living there many years. Not looking for a gourmet experience, but a nice one. Watch the Fremont Street lights, get a bit of the feeling for the old days, etc. Money not that important. Any experiences, thoughts? Of course we look at Yelp, Trip Advisor, etc., but you guys have way more valuable opinions.

I was dying for a good steak while staying on Fremont street about 6 months ago so I took my wife to Oscars. It looked a little to high end for what I wanted so we never actually went in. I ended up at the Binions steak house which is a little lower key with a great view.
Then, I was on Fremont street a couple of months ago and they are building this huge zip line stage that I think is going to really mess up the view of Fremont street from the Plaza's vantage point, but I cannot be positive of this.

Good luck weggie
I have no first hand experience but most of the feedback I've heard is not great. The bar is really nice and the view is second to none. But the reviews I've heard suggest mediocre quality, inconsistant service, and inflated prices.

Check out tripadvisor, yelp, and urbanspoon

All those other sites do not seem very encouraging. And I did notice the zip line construction last time I was in town that looked like it might ruin the view. I will take this up with my wife. Thanks for your help.

I was curious about this place too. So....last week when I was in Vegas, I went in late one night to have a look. Don't know anything about the food or service, but......THE VIEW HAS BEEN COMPLETELY RUINED! I am so PI__ED off at whoever decided that making any zipline at all was a good idea for downtown. Now, they've decided a larger HUMUNGOUS EYESORE is the answer.

Anyone else care about this? Am I the only wacko? ha

While I'm on the soapbox....after doing a fairly good job of cleaning up downtown in the 2000s, has anybody else noticed that the lowlife and homeless factor has grown exponentially over the last couple of years?

It wont be long before Oscar's shuts down, The biggest draw was the view, now the view
is the biggest drawback.
Just drove by the other day. View definitely destroyed. And it's not just that. The entire Plaza is now basically barricaded from Fremont Street. The people there must be pissed. Plus, the giant zip structure also cuts the Golden Gate out of the picture pretty well, too.
I'm now seeing (from an e-mail that I received) that Monday-Fridays from 4PM-6PM at Oscar's they have "Oscar's Happiest Hour In The Universe" which involves 50% Off Of Drinks And Appetizers.
