Palace Station Oyster Bar

Last year, with the impending demise of Buzios we started looking to find good Cioppino and Bouillabaisse. Tried the Oyster Bar at Harrahs and it may be fine if you just want varieties of oysters. However, our server at Harrahs told us that their competition was Palace Station (not Buzios) so we put that on our to do list.
This trip we finally got to Palace Station. It was not what we expected. The Oyster Bar is indeed a 20 seat curved bar (no tables) and if you are lucky you will only have to wait 15-30 minutes to get a seat. The menu is seafood gumbos and stews and can be checked online. After our disappointment with Harrahs Oyster Bar we were definitely having reservations about Palace Station's Oyster Bar as we waited for seats at 3 PM. (It's open 24/7). Ordered Cioppino and Bouillabaisse and were asked how spicy we wanted it (1-10). She went for a level 5 for Cioppino and I went for a level zero for my Bouillabaisse. Everyone's order is prepared in front of you at the bar and is served hot and immediately. The servings are ample and you can get a doggy-bag for any leftovers or you can actually order to-go. We saw several diners do both. If you enjoy good and very good seafood gumbo/stew/scampi/jambalaya this is the place to go.
We will definitely go there again and have decided on how to dine. Is "dine" the right word when you are sitting in high stools at a bar? We will wait in the line to get stools in the middle of the curved bar, order a bottle of wine and a 1/2 dozen oysters and one order of Bouillabaisse ($5 split plate charge). Then we will relax with the wine and oysters and enjoy the aromas of our Bouillabaisse as well as everyone else's meals cooking in front of us.

I've done Palace Station Oyster Bar several times....but it definitely gets crowded. Then I discovered Texas Station has one that is very similar and much less packed. I generally go there now.
We adore the Palace Station Oyster Bar. Part of the fun can be waiting in line, though we prefer not to. You just have to get it in your mind that there will be a wait. Usually, one of us does the line, and the other goes out and gambles, snagging a drink to bring bag to the one in line. We usually order one of the pan roasts, with half sauce, since there is an awful lot of, admittedly tasty, cream sauce in the pan roasts. You can also order cocktails, in addition to wine.
