Palms A.Y.C.E

There is an existing thread on this one but it got way off track so I'll start a new one.

Back in my early, younger days when my funds were very limited ($2 craps at the Stardust was great!), I lived off the cheap ~$1.99 buffets.  But since then the only one I've been to is the Bacchanal and that was about 7-8 years and many price increases ago.

But I'm staying at Palms Place next month and the 50% off coupon here brings the brunch price down to around $21 and I have a $25 a day dining credit so I may give it a shot.  I would never pay full price, I simply don't eat enough to justify it.  $21 would be ok I guess but now that it will be pretty much free other than a tip I'll give it a try most likely and report back.

Appreciate that, Vic.  I'll be using the 2 for 1 Westgate Buffet coupon this coming weekend, and by charging it to the room, I can take advantage of my $50 in food comps.  I also hope they will take my players card (platinum), which is another 20% off.  I doubt they do it with the coupon, but I'll try.  I'll also report back on how that goes.

The reason I haven't tried the Palms buffet recently, even with the coupon, is opportunity cost. To have that meal takes a minimum time investment of four hours, much of that just standing in line(s). My time in Vegas is finite, and whatever time I spend getting my meals is time I can't spend doing something else.

It wasn't long ago that Palms had decent gambling, so there was more reason to visit than just the buffet. But now, they've turned it all to shit.

I really doubt that they'll let you use the LVA coupon AND your dining credit, but let us know.

The Palms is now dealing 3/2 blackjack at ALL tables. The Palms also has multiple point days, as shown here - March: 2-5x points based on tier every Thursday 2 pm-midnight. Every Monday and Weds Club Serrano members aged 50+ can take advantage of Gemstones promotion, earning 5X points on all slots and video poker games from 5 am to noon. Swipe PRIOR to playing.

Nice.  I'm staying next store at Palms Place so it's convenient  plus it's Sun-Thur so I doubt a Monday breakfast/brunch will be crowded to the point of a line (hopefully).  I love that it's all 3/2 and I believe weekdays/nights it's $15 on some tables.

Wow! ONLY $15 and a blackjack actually pays 3 to 2!!!

Remember when blackjack minimums were $10 or even $5 and there was no such thing as 6 to 5? Now we celebrate when we only get gouged a little!!

For context, $15 a hand is $900 an hour.

Yes Wow!  The Palms does offer $5 blackjack and $5 craps on "select" tables, 24/7 and, as previously stated 3/2 blackjack on all tables, both double deck and 6 deck games. This is verifiable on their website.

That's true and good to hear. I heard on a LVA Youtube Podcast, however, that that all 3/2 blackjack is dealt with a CSMs (continous shuffle machines) thus removing any potential player advantage from counting cards.

It's a mixed bag. A CSM speeds up the game, which is generally detrimental for the players. However, there's a tiny bump in the accuracy of basic strategy. So a CSM game at the Palms would be best for you if you play accurate basic strategy and you like playing at a full table (fewer hands per hour).

As far as counting cards is concerned, that's pretty much a dead issue anyway, since any remaining beatable games (in Vegas and elsewhere) are sweated to the max. And the casinos share much more player ID info these days, so getting barred or backed off at one casino might be actually getting bounced from a dozen or more all at once.
