My son and I dined at Red Square last week, before taking in the Michael Jackson One show. We enjoyed a cocktail at the bar(counter top of the bar is made of ice) before dinner. I had a very tasty Moscow Mule. The first thing that I noticed when we sat down was the noise level of the club style music being played; it was on the LOUD side. I had to raise my voice in order for the lovely bartender to hear my drink order. The noise level was on par with the music played in the evening at the Golden Gate.
We were seated at a table in their restaurant area and the music was still numbingly loud. This definitely is not a place to have a quiet meal. Our waiter was terrific; very attentive. The menu has a limited selection and is way overpriced IMHO. The prices on the wine list were ridiculous. The price for a bottle of Far Neinte chardonnay was $240 and a bottle of Opus One was listed around $420. My son had the filet mignon and I tried the stroganoff. He really enjoyed the steak; I have never seen him attack his meal with such zeal. My stroganoff was...meh....nothing special. We shared a shrimp cocktail and I had a salad, which again was...meh. We also had a bottle of a California Pinot Noir. The bill came to around $175 not including tip(the wine was $42).
I really cannot suggest dining at this place: #1--noise level is way too loud for a fairly expensive dining experience. #2--weighing the ratio of cost vs quality of food, I'd say Red Square offers a poor value. I have wanted to try this place for several years...now I have, and I can cross it off my list....for good.
Glasses can affect your vision; especially when they have been emptied several times......
