Redwood Bar and Grill???

looking for reviews... thinking of having the Porterhouse Steak Special $24
I dined there about 2 years ago and found it to be a nice dining expericence. I had a nice sized steak, cooked medium rare as I had ordered it. The lobster bisque was flavorfulful and I like the apple dumpling for dessert. They have an adequate wine list(had a couple of glasses of the Cambria Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard). Cloth tableclothes and cloth napkins. Waiter was friendly and attentive. They have a small bar/lounge adjacent to the dining area. There was a piano player playing the night I was there; a very talented fellow which added to the experience. I'll probably dine there again, when I stay downtown on a future trip.

Glasses can affect your vision; especially when they have been emptied several times......

Spring Break 2000 !!!
I've had the special a couple of times as well. It is a good deal. Not as good as when it was $17.99, but still a good deal. I think the piano player only works 3 or 4 nights per week, because there have been times when he was there and times when he wasn't. Very versatile guy - in addition to the normal background piano music, he played a little Debussy and even played a couple of Sousa marches when someone requested them.

And yes, the lobster bisque is very good. It's the same bisque they used to serve over at Main Street Station when they had the steakhouse over there, which only makes sense.
Biglar. The piano in the lounge is no longer there, so there is no more entertainment.

Like mckenztf says, it was a better deal at 17.99, and ever a much better deal some years back at 12.99! Don't miss the apple dumpling for dessert.

We've dined there several times over the last 10 years or so. It's a small intimate room with good feel and attentive staff. It's one of the nicer casino steakhouses downtown. The porterhouse special is the only bargain option on the menu. As noted in prior responses, the price has increased about 100% in the last few years, but it's still worth the money. The other things on the menu we've tried have all been excellent as well, just not bargains. I can vouch for the king crab legs, the lobster, and my wife can vouch for the filet as being very very good. Also as previously stated, don't miss the apple dumpling. If you're there with anyone else, make sure they order their own - you won't want to share yours!

Wow, I had not realized they had jacked the price that much for this special. It definitely used to be a great deal but now???
I think you can pay with points, no? And paying with points at the restaurant means 40% off, I think? Or is that not in effect anymore?

fredo
Yes, you can pay with points. At 600/pts per $1, that'd be 14,400 points. If you're playing a reasonable amount at either MSS or the Cal, check with a host. You might be able to get at least a partial comp.
