Reviews: Flame & Don B's

We have been going to tghe Flame at EC since deep into the "Roberta's" years and have always been very happy. The only change this time was we went a bit later (7:30) and we think the service was a little slower. I also think that the Chicago style "garbage" salad is getting smaller, but my wife kisn't so sure. As always, the food was great. She got the steak and I the lambchops. We've eaten most of the menu and not been disappointed.
This was our first stop at Don B's at Fitzgerald's. We wanted to try it b4 the ownership change altered it. The service was great- the prices were slightly higher but not dreadful.
The food was for the most part beter that Flame, but not much. The palate cleaning sorbet after the appetizer was perfect. Stunningly the only issue was the actual entrees. They werfe good, but not on a bar with Flame. I had steak but cannot remember what the wife had. Maybe just a fluke based on the rest of the meal. The ambioence is nice, smaller and more intimate than Flame.
Happy to hear that the Flame is still doing well. We will be there in early December and we always have a meal at the Flame once or twice a trip. Good food, good service and a bargain with the coupons from MRB and ACG.
Ate at the Flame for the first time in August. I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. The wife had fish (pike maybe) and loved it. We'll definitely go back even though she was creeped out a bit by the El Cortez.
