Rio Buffets Question

Staying at the Rio next month for the first time in years. I'm not much of a buffet person but I do occassionally enjoy the higher end buffets. I know their regular buffet and seafood buffet used to be highly regarded but I'm wondering if that's still the case...
I do not like the RIO buffet at all. Every time we went the food look old and congealed in the steam trays. YUCK!

Plus, they do have amazing ice cream, but the dish they give you is so small that any topping you puton it drips over the sides.

Joy
I havent done the seafood buffet in quite a while. Howvere I did the carnival buffet and i got there at 2:30 during the lunch hour (and paid lunch hopur price). At 3 p.m. out came the crab legs and a bunch of other items (ie Bar b q beef ribs) that I thoroughly enjoyed. Food was fresh and the table service was top notch also!!
The Carnival World Buffet has slightly above average food. However it is tremendously overpriced.

I try to eat the seafood buffet ever time I go to Vegas last year it was still great
Thanks for the responses, mixed though they may be I usually eat some meals at my home base in Vegas, maybe I'll check out one of these.
I will agree with Champster. Last time I was at the Carnival World Buffet a couple years ago, I went for late lunch knowing they are bringing out the dinner items (crab legs, etc) shortly. Had a very nice experience and the food was very good. Basically, dinner for the lunch price. Prime rib was very good also.
I just returned from a trip to Las Vegas. Forgive me if this has already been posted, but the Seafood Buffet does not operate on Tuesday or Wednesday nights. Thankfully I just switched my Thursday night dining destination to Tuesday night and I went back to the Rio on Thursday night.
The RIO buffets, in my opinion, are not only over-priced, but the lines can be very long. You can walk across the street and go to the Gold Coast Buffet in less time and save a whack of money.
I dont think I would put RIO in the "higher end buffet" class anymore. The Seafood buffet has deteriorated somewhat from its prime several years ago. There are worse buffets for sure...but there are also much better ones.

Cosmo, Aria, Wynn, Bellagio, and Caesers are all in a higher echelon than Rio in my opinion
