Disappointing. Lovely decor, but that's about it.

Did you do breakfast or dinner? I’ve heard good things about the Benedict’s and pastries for breakfast.
but your review sounds like the same thing I’d say for their Italian restaurant, Olives.
Haven't tried it there. What cuisine do they offer?
We went to Sadelle's about 7:30 pm on a Tuesday. Mainly to see old friends; the hostesses, servers, others who had become like family from our many visits to Bellagio Cafe. From what we had read online we didn't expect it to be in any way similar to the Cafe; more upscale and with exotic offerings we probably wouldn't like, e.g. heavy on caviar and other squirmy sea critter creations. I think maybe there weren't so many weird offerings on the menu as I expected, but I wasn't looking for those and don't remember.
It happened we had stayed at Bellagio just after the Cafe was closed and breakfast was being served in Harvest. At that time most of the Bel Cafe employees were staffing Harvest for the breakfast hours, so we enjoyed getting to see them at least once more. Coincidentally, this was when those folks were taking written "tests" which would determine who would be offered jobs in Sadelle's. They were really nervous about it, since whomever didn't make that cut would be without a job, period, no opportunity for reassignment elsewhere on property (to keep seniority, retirement, etc). Happily, while we were there many learned that they "passed" the tests and would be hired. Sadly, as often happens, the absolute best hardest working server at Bellagio Cafe (even by the other servers' opinions) did not make the cut. Sadelle's loss, IMO. But I digress.
I think I mentioned the decor. Same structure but very pretty blue-green color scheme.
The first shock was the tackiest, ugliest Hostess uniforms imaginable. They looked like prison matron garb, actually similar to my 1st year student nurse uniform...I'm talking ugly. Like blue striped bed ticking with a fabric tie belt. Emphasized the worst of their figures...like "Does this dress make me look fat? YES!" Remember the sleek black professional suits the Hostesses wore in the Cafe? Flattering and gave the place an upscale feel from the get go. The girls are pretty embarrased, like your doggie when you take her for a haircut, that sheepish "don't look at me" look. LOL.
The servers' outfits were almost as bad. Similar dress with a short orange jacket over it.
OK, dress does not make a restaurant. Keep an open mind, I said to myself.
Food was barely fair. Admittedly, after looking over the menu, which seemed pretty ordinary in terms of food offerings (maybe it was to be more of a cafe than originally planned), husband ordered a club sandwich and fries. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and hash browns, which I often order where ever we go and have never been disappointed...until now.
It was 45 minutes before our food came. No bread or crackers or anything to tide us over (like Bel Cafe did). (And I counted maybe 6-8 other diners in there--not so busy.) Husband's sandwich was just "OK". The french fries were barely warm and tasteless, no matter how much I salted them. My breakfast sandwich was...different. Plain white bread toasted, not the usual croissant. The bacon was limp, bordering on underdone (depending on how you like it, I'm sure). Server had informed me the egg on the sandwich would be cooked "soft coddled"...yikes! I said "make it hard." Didn't come hard but better than soft coddled. I should have specified "crispy" for the bacon.
The so-called hash browns were a joke. A hard round overcooked something that could be thrown against a wall and not lose shape. And tasteless. I guess New York doesn't do hash browns.
I ordered a lemon drop martini. Barely OK, though expensive of course. To be fair, there is only one place I know of in the universe that makes a proper one anymore. Hint: PF Chang's...but only in my home town. Can't vouch for PF's lemon drops in other cities.
Next night, Room Service: 3 egg omelet with ham, bacon, green pepper, English muffins. Excellent! Eggs bene for me. Excellent! Have always been happy with In Room Dining at Bellagio.
I hope our experience in Sadelle's was an aberation. Somebody else go and try their steaks or something. Just not the hash browns.
wow nice report. one question. you wrote no soft coddled egg. yet reads like you like eggs benedict. genneraly those eggs should be soft and runny. wonder if they made the hollandaise or used "jarred".
thanks again
halochef, I know that eggs bene eggs are soft boiled, which is fine. I like a well fried egg on my breakfast sandwich.
As for the eggs bene up in room service, the hollandaise might have been jarred. The lady taking my order said "They don't put a lot of sauce on the eggs, so should I put you down for extra sauce?" Of course I said yes. They sent one of those 'creamer' boats full of hollandaise (as well as that already on the eggs), but it was fairly thick, like pancake batter. Also charged me $3 for it. It was comped so I didn't worry about it, but what they had on the eggs already was enough, didn't really need the extra. I know making perfect hollandaise is an art, so this may not have been it, but whatever it was tasted OK to me. Oh, well, nothing is perfect.
Maybe the eggs bene in Sadelle's would have been a better choice. Don't know if we will go back. Hope to hear some better reports.

ok. there is a vender that sells hollandaise in 4-1qt containers. but i make it from scratch. like to nite a BBQ / fillets so i am making Bearnaise. i will use very hot butter to warm egg yolks and use a hand held emulsion blender.
