South Point Buffet-and a tip

Larry, I just returned from Vegas and stayed @ South Point  twice. The buffet is very popular and catching it at the right time to not have to stand in line is not easy. They no longer offer the 2 for 1 breakfast/lunch coupon in the booklet they give upon check-in. I don't like standing in line either, but a 15 minute wait is about as good as it gets. The buffet on Friday and Saturday always has a long line. I opted to go to the Mexican Restaurant instead and found the service and food great. I will eat there more often on my next trips.

Thanks for the info about no buffet in the funbook, going there next week, so printed the 2 for 1 breakfast from the LVA Member Rewards Online coupons area (Mon thru Fri only)  We know the sushi place there is good, any suggestions on which place there for steak?

No, not really. I am not a big steak eater - maybe someone else can help you with that. I am not sure what days of the week you will be there, just remember that on Friday's and Saturday's ( lunch and dinner times) the buffet line is very, very long.  My last trip I had a buffet comp - I  saw the line had gotten shorter  and went to get into the line at 8:10 PM and was not allowed to get in the line because thay had stopped people from lining up at 8 PM, even though the buffet closes at 9PM..

I've only eaten at Silverado once, but I really enjoyed it. My go-to place is Primarily Prime Rib, which also has several cuts of steak on their menu. The prices are really reasonable and the quality is as good as any high-end Vegas steakhouse costing twice as much. PPR and Silverado operate out of the same kitchen, so you can compare the two menus and see what works. (Also, on a busy weekend, Silverado seems to be easier to get into than PPR.)

I'd also like to mention Zenshin, if that kind of food ("Asian fusion") floats your boat, their happy hour pricing is awesome. BTW the funbook used to have a coupon for them, don't know if it still does.

Thank you both for the info.  We will be there M/T/W leaving Thursday, so weekdays plus non-holiday July and gas prices "should" mean shorter lines, or just get reservations for the next evening.  We know Zenshin has some more traditional sushi in addition to fusion, unfortunately it is not on their "happy hour" menu.  Both the steak places sound worth visiting.

FYI Primarily Prime Rib is closed Monday and Tuesday.

This was to be expected when considering the consistant rise in the cost of goods and shipping costs. Even with this price increase, this buffet is still a bargain.

Update:  Zenshin was very good, Silverado was excellent, and the LVA on-line coupon 2 for 1 breakfast buffet worked.  Note:  Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday July 12/13/14 noone in line for buffet 7:45 till around 8:30, but by 9am it almost turned the corner all three mornings.
