Stations Casinos pretty much kill their buffets

Management really doesnt like them

------------------------------

"Station's looking around and seeing that these are not making us money. If locals were willing to pay $45, $50 for a buffet, then they'd bring them back, but they aren’t. They know their customer and they know they’re just not going to go for that kind of price point," said Roeben.

-------------------------------

My own feeling is that its ultimately not going to be a decision mgmt can make.   Customers vote with their feet.   If Boyd brings back their buffets along with Silverton, Rampart, others then I suspect many of Stations players will move their play to those places.    We shall see..

I think that the casinos (and I speak of them as a collective entity making a coordinated decision, as is the case) have calculated that while there will be some grumbling, customers will get used to "no cheap buffets." Remember, it was said that no one would tolerate 6:5 blackjack; everybody would stay away if resort fees were charged; of course no one would put up with paid parking. But the lemmings kept coming.

Bottom line, they know there's no consumer discretion and people will pay higher and higher prices for worse and worse experiences. Look at the current mad, frenzied rush---which is happening even though they've doubled or tripled the price of everything.

And because the casinos aren't really competing--they're colluding--you won't see one casino group buck the trend and fling open the buffet doors while the rest hold back. If they stick together, then they can collectively make the cheap buffets fade from people's minds, and everyone will be coughing up $30 a head to eat in the coffee shop or $59.95 to eat at the Swanky Trough Buffet, the way God intended.

Too sad I go across the spectrum

One night I will go for a good steak

at a high price another A high price

buffet Nevertheless I wouldn't hesitate

to drive a bit to get a reasonable

buffet and play a little game of chance

miss Main Street station

Getting a cheap meal downtown will be a bit harder without MSS buffet. I always go to breakfast there at least once a trip.

At least, there's still a good cheap breakfast across the street at the cafe in the California. I hope they don't kill that place off---it's always had great specials. The Pineapple People love it.

Gonna miss the omelet guy at MSS. Always cheerful, joking around. "You made my day!"

Actually Main Street Staion is part of Boyd Casinos which have not to my knowledge made any statements about the buffets' future.    If Boyd brings their's back I wouldn't be surprised to see many Stations players switch over.

I recieved an email survey from Silverton maybe 6 or 7 questions total. 3 or 4 questions pertained to their dining options with one specifically asking how important a buffet is to my casino choices. So it seems they may be trying to gauge how their customers might react to whatever decision they may make concerning their buffet.

I will go to whichever casinos have a good buffet. I hope Boyd opens theirs like south point did.  I had never been to south point until they opened up their buffet. Mss, silverton, sams town  hopefully will reopen

I'm hoping so.
