Top 3 Station Buffets?

1. Red Rock - by quite a bit
2. Aliante - Solid
3. GVR - Used to be great, now OK

Also sampled Boudler, Sante Fe and Sunset

Damn Sue. You mean no more crab legs with the spices added and put on the grill at GVR? Whats the world coming to????
Update: I tried the Red Rock buffet the other day (I'll post a piece of my TR below). I move its buffet WAY down.

Top: Aliente
Second: Sunset
Third: GVR

Here's the other thing: all the above are very much the same. I think if I wrote down what each was offering, they'd align by about 80% or 90%. My guess it's a move to make the buffets economical. So, since they're so much the same, Aliente and Sunset are pretty much the same as GVR and RRR without the premium price.

Here's more details from my TR:
Buffets
One more RRR observation: their dinner buffet was so disappointing, I won’t try it again. I put Aliente above it. Though, I think all the Station Casino buffets are now very much alike to meet their new low prices – a lot alike. So RRR and GVR don’t deserve the premium price. Aliente is your best play. Using a coupon or Senior day, do a late breakfast, get the lunch change-over and it’ll cost a little more than a 1000 points. Another big feature for Aliente, you can get bottles of beer in the buffet for $1.

What I didn’t like about RRR buffet: they had chicken-pieces at every station. I’m talking cut-up chicken parts (breast, leg, thigh, etc) baked in some sauce: salsa in Mexican, teriyaki in Asian, barbecue in barbecue, and fried in American. They also had 3 macaroni dishes (yes, three dishes made of macaroni). And a large potato station. So a good half of the buffet, it seemed to me, was chicken parts, macaroni, and potatoes. Really? No ribs at the barbecue station only above mention chicken and pork chops baked in a sauce. That’s a premium priced buffet? RRR does have sushi, but I don’t like sushi. The only redeeming things: I got a burnt end of a brisket that was meaty and yummy. They have chocolate cakes (think lava cake that’s been baked a tad too long, so it does ooze) with crème Anglaise, chocolate sauce, and caramel sauce.

Breakfast buffets at Station Casinos: pretty basic. Decent food, but only the standard breakfast fare and just a little more (like breakfast pizzas). If you like breakfast food, the price is right. If you don’t want eggs, breakfast meats, maple syrup things, and fruit, don’t go.

After eating at Aliante in June, I agree completely with your assessment. I don't think GVR or Red Rock are worth the premium if one is paying. I never pay for Station buffets so I eat at whichever one I happen to be playing at meal time.
