Watch out for the bread!!!!

Paul and I spent 10 days in Las Vegas celebrating my birthday every where we could.
One of the very special dinners was at Terzetto's at M.
The food and service were fantastic.

Before the meal you get the usual bread and butter..
Good stuff with a glass of wine.

I was enjoying myself until I bit into the crust of the rye bread.
Paul heard the crack...I felt the crack!!!

I told myself it was nothing, after all we still had 5 days left to vaca.

Today I went to the dentist.
Not only did that crust chip my tooth, but it is actually cracked the tooth it in half.
Thursday I go for a temporary crown and then evaluate if I further need a root canal,
depending on possible nerve damage.

Now I have very good teeth, only 5 fillings, and no other problems, never even had
a toothache before. This pain was aweful.

Since I never even mentioned this to the waiter and the meal was comped by our host,
I do not intend to involve the restaurant any further. I did write a comment to the food department though!

Crap, we lost in the casino and now we face $1000-2000 in dental charges.Vegas
can really do you in.
Judy
What a bummer, Judy! I hope you get away with just the crown and don't need a root canal. I'm going through a ton of dental work myself right now from jaw clenching damaging my teeth, so I really sympathize with you!
Thanks Mare,
Paul has really bad teeth and had almost every tooth with a crown.
Me, well I've never experienced any kind of dental problem.
I have strong and healthy teeth and gums.

Wow this pain is not pleasant.

Wish I had said something when it happened, but to
me it was not significant. Never a problem before.

When I saw the pictures toay, it looked like a huge crack in ice with
the radiating little cracks! OUCH, THAT'S MY TOOTH. The chip looked
huge too, but of course it was magnified. Still, no wonder I haven't
chewed on that side since.

Yikes, the bill without insurance is more than we lost there!!!

Still would go back to Terzetto's to eat, just NO BREAD!!!!

Judy
Terzetto is great! I don't eat rye bread, so I guess I'm safe.

Yes, dental work with no insurance is EXPENSIVE!

I've never had strong teeth, but they've gotten really damaged from jaw clenching (I don't grind, just clench). I never knew that was a problem. I try hard not to do it, but find myself doing it all the time! If I relax my jaw I have muscle spasms and bite my lip or tongue. Not fun. But the combination of that and an impacted wisdom tooth that damaged the root of the tooth in front of it has really put me in the dentist's chair lately. My wallet doesn't like me very much right now!

I hope you get through this experience quickly without too much pain (physical or financial). Dental stuff is never fun!

Sorry to hear of your health issues but Judy...
Teeth like eyes age.
It's only because of dentist that we can live longer than we use to..because we get to eat more than soft foods longer
If it wasn't the bread crust, something else would have cracked that tooth...i.e. carrots in the salad or nuts in an almond joy bar

please don't blame the bread- crust is suppose to be just that; crusty!
I split a tooth to the root.
Nothing could be done to save.... extraction and I went for the implant, not a bridge.
That costs more than $3,000. Worth it. It's like a regular tooth now.
Noahcat: Yes bread should be crusty, but not rock hard.
Carrots or nuts I expect to be hard and crunchy.
I treated this bread as I usually do...boy did I
get a surprise.

Tennis bum: Ouch, that must have really hurt. I'll keep an implant in
mind if it reaches that point.

Justmare: Yes, the food at Terzetto's was great, the service too.
I would go again, just stay away from the bread.
Sounds like you have experienced your share of painful dental visits.

I did send a note to M food department and received a call asking for more details.
I have a number to call back after the temp crown is done on Thurs.

Judy
I once cracked and then lost half of a tooth eating.......scrambled eggs!

As Noahcat said, it can happen with any food.

Hoping your dental woes are soon behind you.

..I cracked a tooth on Go Lean Kaisa (Kasia?) Cereal-- guess I didn't let the milk soften it
Root Canal. sigh.

age/ time

God Bless dentists~~~~ they extend quality of life
Assuming you're not chewing rocks, the damage to the tooth is done long before you crack it. It's just to the point that it's ready to go. NC is also right. Strong, well cared for teeth don't always stay that way forever. TB, $3K for an implant isn't bad. I had a bridge done about seven years ago that was about $4,500. Dental care ain't cheap.

Good Luck!
