A.Y.C.E. Price Increase

Who in their right mind makes a snide remark about what amount someone else chooses to tip?

That aside, buffet servers do more than just bring your drinks--they also clear the tables, bus the dishes, bring out clean napkins and silverware, etc. But many buffet diners don't leave a tip at all, and those that do usually leave about $1 a person. These servers make minimum wage, so it doesn't all add up to very much.

But yeah, if you're feeling butt-hurt because you dumped $600 at the tables or slots before you went to the buffet, by all means, take our your frustrations on your buffet server.

Yeah, that makes no sense.  My wife and I tip anywhere from $5 to $10 depending on how attentive the waitstaff is.  We were at the Westgate Buffet, our first buffet in years, a few weeks ago.  We paid for the buffet in food comps and points, so no money out of pocket.  The waiter was on it with drinks and refills, while also busy cleaning other tables as well.  We tipped him $10 to show our appreciation and he was extremely surpised when he saw the dime. These fine people are working hard and it's only right to show them appreciation for a job well done.

David, you said "Who in their right mind..."

That's a snide remark, and critical of anyone who doesn't think the way you do about tips.

So I suggest that you follow your own advice. Not that I expect you to--you don't have the honor or maturity.

Everyone should tip however and whenever they feel it's apprpriate.

That's nothing to be proud of, particularly not when they're your words.

"No one in their right mind would..." is saying, in effect, "Everybody who doesn't think the way I do is insane." I know you say that a lot, in the Sink, elsewhere in these forums, and I have no doubt, in whatever personal life you have as well. So you're used to doing that. Doesn't make it right, or honorable.

Someone who has different thoughts than you regarding tipping, OR ANYTHING ELSE, is just as much "in their right mind" as you are. Maybe much more.

David, i pointed out your crude and impolite behavior, as I so often do, and you weaseled and responded with a personal attack in order to deflect, which you always do. I'm guessing that, as you constantly tell people whose opinions differ from yours that they are "delusional" or "liars," that you spend all of your life, at home or on vacation...alone.

I hope your upcoming Vegas vacation makes you a tiny bit less sad, bitter, hostile, and rude. And don't forget to leave generous tips!

All that you have pointed out is your pesonal disfavor of me. You have taken this posting out of the Dining area of the Forums and taken it to the Sink - a tactic that you in the past have claimed/whined about that others have done. You are a hypocrite and certifiable - you need and should seek professional help.

I feel tipping for service.Whatever restaurant I go too.Old school thinking.Unless real bad service I never go below 15 percent.Remember on half off the tip is rated on full amount. My friend says tax not included.

According to David Miller, you're not in your right mind. According to me, however, you should tip whatever amount you feel is appropriate. Nothing "old school" about that.

I agree. When I was young I worked as a waitress food and cocktail.Even if we didn't clear our tables we shared our tips. Also isn't it common practice to tip a cute cocktail waitress. After I started to grow out of cuteness. I went back to school became a Registered Nurse,no tips.
