2 weeks to go--any questions?

The stars are lining up for a great trip!
I have wanted to play in one of the WSOP satellite tournaments for years now (cannot afford the buy in at the big tournament) and decided a few months ago to splurge and head to Vegas for the first week of June to give a smaller tournament a shot.
My son has been in the Army for the last eight years and has spent multiple tours of duty in Iraq (which has deeply effected him, and his personal life at home is a soap opera. I have never seen anyone so in need of a week to unwind!
Anyway, Last month I had a run on a craps table and won $800 at Foxwoods in Connecticut. My wife and I asked my son to go with us to Las Vegas all expenses paid except his gambling bank roll.(thanks Foxwoods!) He asked for leave and got permission to go! So the stars are lining up for a great trip.......
Now on to my post, I will be on Fremont street From May 31st until June 5th. Does anyone have a very specific question that only someone who is actually on Fremont street could answer? Is your favorite slot machine still in the back of Binions? Does Binions still have $3 craps? is your favorite hooker still where you left her on the corner of Main and Fremont? things like that... I will have my lap top and will try to respond while I am out there if I get asked any questions.

3 Questions:

- Is the music at the D still really loud?
- Where can you find the cheapest drink now?
- Of all the downtown joints, which ones are looking up and which ones look to be struggling?

marko..
We stayed at the D for 3 days mid April. Yes, the volume was loud the 3 days we were there, even in the early morning ( 6 -7 am). In the past the volume was not that bad at that time of day. Tried playing the new Pawn Stars slot and could not hear the sound on the machine over the music even when I tried to turn up the volume on the slot. The constant thumping of the bass finally got to us and we tried playing upstairs ( they don't have enought variety of machines) and on the 2 other areas outside the maine casino area with the table games.
Found we played more at the Fremont, Binions, California, etc to try to escape the loud music
1. Do you see any 4 card poker tables?

2. Did you find any good comedy clubs.

I have a 20 something son who wants to go to LV with me. Would like to hear about:
- What did your son have fun doing
- Any particular father son activity suggestions ( Don't tell me about Industrial Road. He will have to do that with his friends)
- Any good sports books.

Best of luck.

Response to ProfBac:

This suggestion does not pertain to downtown, but it's still a good father son activity. Visit the pinball hall of fame on Tropicana, it has tons of vintage pinball and arcade games. My family visits this place every time we go to Las Vegas and it is always a great time!

Time permitting.. Is a Las Vegas 51's game scheduled? It just screams "father/son bonding" at a minor league baseball game.
I have wanted to go for years, but find myself stuck to the tables and not wanting to leave for a game.

The stars are still lining up.......
The mighty Boston Bruins hockey team is doing real well in the play offs right now and could possible be playing next week when we all hit town.
I cannot tell you how big of fans that we are! All three of us (me, my wife, and son) are all planning to wear Boston Bruins jerseys to a sports book and watch a playoff game.

8 days and a wake up! weggie
I'm from New Hampshire. I'm with you on rooting for the Bruins. LET'S GO B's!!!
Newburyport here. The bruins might have done you a favor last night (Thanks Tuka) Beating a NY team while in Vegas........Priceless!!
Champster, sorry I didn't respond earlier. I'm sure it's too late to affect your trip, but I'll answer the "isolation" comment in case anyone else might be intersted. I stayed at the Cal, but I'm sure the same would have been true at MSS. What I was refering to was the location of those two compared to staying on Fremont. My previous DT stay was at the 4Qs and I liked the idea of walking out the of the entrance and being in the middle of DT. MSS/Cal are only a block away, but it is a block away. To make matters worse the humidity was terrible that week. I don't mind the heat in Vegas, but 50% humidity is too much. I would walk from the Cal through the Vegas Club to avoid it, but the abandoned section smelled like a urinal and when you entered the casino you were hit with a blast of industrial strenghth Fabreeze! I enjoyed the stay there. The food options between the were fantastic. My next time DT will probably be on Fremont though because of location.

Good Luck!
