$20 resort fee at the D™ and golden gate?

Melonhead how do you know drmilled is "old?" My old saying regarding staying at the D and paying a $20 resort fee for that place is "A fool and his money are soon parted." Who the hell is going to believe that the rates at the D will stay $20 below what they would have been without the resort fee. They might have dropped for now but eventually (in the not too distant future I predict) the rates will rise to the level of the competition and the resort fee will still be owed. Good luck with this move Derek you got some bad advice.
I looked to book on Allegiant and stay at The D for March Madness. The D is not listed at that time for a package deal on Allegiant, they told me they must have used up their allotted rooms. ? So I looked at just flying Allegiant and booking at The D separately. Seemed reasonable until I clicked on Reserve room and up pops the $80 resort fee plus $10 resort fee tax. (staying four nights). Total of $583.

WTF???

I can book the Golden Nugget for the same four nights for about $80 less overall.

I'm stunned by this.

PS I wanted The D over March Madness because of the big party room they having going.
I booked the D next month for a Saturday/Sunday and it was $121 for both nights. Even with the resort charges, it was the cheapest downtown, including El Cortez.
Sunday night cost the same as Saturday night? How can that be?

There's a three-day weekend in October for many, Columbus Day is Monday the 14th.

Was that $121 each night? If so, was it perhaps the 26th and 27th? There's a big "Life Is Beautiful" music festival downtown those two days, which would perhaps explain the prices.
There are some nights where the ROOM cost itself is only about $25. Tacking on a $20 "resort fee" is rediculous. It's not like any of the smaller places have the same kind of overhead as Golden Nugget does. None of which makes any resort fee legitimate to start with. Just make it easier for everybody, be more upfront/honest and roll everything into the total cost of the room.

I didn't communicate this well. It was $121 TOTAL for Saturday/Sunday. $99 for Saturday and $22 for Sunday. As it turns out, I called to see if they had any better deal and they comped me for Sunday. I gave them a card for payment, but it didn't include any resort fee. Since they comped a night, will I have to pay a resort fee at all? I didn't want to ask her and have her add it on...Text
