241 Downtown

If you are interested in people watching, Fitzgeralds on Fremont street has a great little bar called the Vue (I think) that has a balcony over hanging Fremont Street. It's a great place have a rum & diet coke and watch some of the goings on, on the street. The best time I have seen is around 8 PM on friday and Saturday nights......there are some real charachters that show up on that street at night!

hava fun Weggie
Fremont buffet was closed when we were there in December. A spruce-up maybe? Slipped a little from earlier years in our opinion - - and the service was beyond poor.
From past experiences: Fremont Buffet is really not good.... Golden Nugget is way better.....Look for quality not quantity.

We are not big eaters and buffets never pay for themsevles because of this, unless they are 241. We want quality over quantity, period.

Sometimes we share a dinner for she is only 4'11'' and all 95 pounds of her, and she just cannot eat a lot of food.

So sometimes we will share a diinner, and I get a snack later on.

I guess the Prime Rib at the 4Q is looking like a good option, for if we each get one, and she eats only some of her's, then not alot of money wasted, and I get a full dinner!

It will most likely be 2013 when we finally stay downtown, 3 days on strip and 3 days downtown, or is that too many days for downtown? We like to gamble more than shows, and we can do the show thing while on the strip, yet the GN seems to have something, and they have a Band too at night.

I'll keep reading here about the food, and buffets downtown and take note for 2013, but for this year, it is a one nighter downtown and maybe we should just skip the buffet coupons all together.

Thanks for all of the honest opinions and ideas.

BTW, I just told Cindy about the Prime Rib at 4Q and she loves Prime Rib! Then I told her, for about the same money, she can have a Porterhouse at the California, and she gave me the "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME" look, I can't eat all that, she says! LOL That would be a share dinner for sure!!!!

Just got back Friday, and the Fremont buffet is most definitely open. We ate there twice - once for dinner and once for breakfast. I wouldn't say there was anything that stood out as fabulous, but both meals were perfectly acceptable. There was an adequate variety to choose from, and the value is hard to beat with the 241 coupon.
The Fremont buffet closes for 2 weeks every December for a full cleaning and any upgrading that needs to be done. We were there in December of 2010 and it closed for that during our stay. I was there again last summer (July and Labor Day) and in terms of buffets, I really enjoy the GN for breakfast into lunch (you just have to time it right) and the Fremont for Brunch. I will never go to the MSS buffet again, everything there tastes the same to me, no matter what it is supposed to be, and the service has been terrible every time we have gone there. We usually don't do dinner buffets, so I can't comment specifically on that. I will say that I have heard terrible things about the restaurant at the Fitz (the D) and I tried it on my last trip, just to see if it was as bad as everyone said, and I thought it was actually very good for the price. The service was a bit rushed and not overly attentive, but the food was fine and inexpensive.

For one dinner downtown, my choices would be the Flame in the El Co, or the Triple George Grill, both of which have coupons available.
