4Queens or Main Street???

I have similar offers for March at 4Queens and MainStreet Station. I have not stayed at either place and would like to hear the pros/cons to either. We are not too particular about room size, but noise is a factor and cleanliness. I would love your opinions.
Although I have not stayed at Main Street Station, I do understand that there might be Freeway Noise and/or Train Noise. Other LVAers can tell you where to stay to avoid or cut down on those noises.

With Four Queens, if you want to cut down on the noise from the Fremont Street Experience, stay in a South Tower room. I find the rooms at Four Queens to be clean.

The Four Queens might have different sized rooms (but I don't know that for sure). I just take whatever they offer me when I get a postcard from casino marketing.

I've stayed at MSS twice. Can't ever remember hearing trains or what have you. Probably because when I get to my room I am too tired to let anything bother me.

Rooms are quaint and if I remember correctly the windows had shutters.(it's been a couple of years.)
Shower head is shorter than most. Rooms are clean, the VP is good as is their buffet and the 777 Brewery is one of my favorite places to eat wings and watch hoops! Valet is easy in and out (casino/car). Plus your play gets offers from other BOYD casinos (Orleans, Suncoast, Gold Coast...etc)

Can't speak about 4 Queens!
4Q is in the middle of everything and has a lively vibe - does not have armchairs in rooms.
MSS is a block away - quieter vibe - great antiques - ask for a room facing Plaza if you don't want traffic noise (I don't mind it - it isn't loud) armchairs in rooms.
MSS pours much smaller drinks - but I learned this December - they always bring doubles if you ask - so not a problem.
Both have good dining options. Buffet at MSS is good value and gives 20% off with BConnected card.
MSS shop is the best deal in Vegas - liquor store prices on spirits.

".....MSS shop is the best deal in Vegas - liquor store prices on spirits". That's for the great tip regarding booze. I always heard that the liquor stores found in Gold Coast / Orleans had the best prices of all of Vegas.
MSS is beautiful and I have stayed there many times. I love the bar and the buffet. 4 Queens is loud in the casino but is in the middle of Fremont Street. I like to walk when I can so MSS for me!
I have stayed in both places several times. I've never had an issue with the noise, but as a disclaimer, I can sleep through anything. There were times when I had a corner room at the 4Q right next to one of the stages. When I walked in the room, I thought I was going to have a problem sleeping, but in fact, I only heard them for the three or four seconds it took me to fall asleep.

MSS has a little more variety for food, since you can use players club points and often get comps at restaurants for there or the Cal. MSS has the advantage of a buffet. I used to shy away from buffets, but I had a stroke back in the fall, so the buffets allow me to fill up on fruit, salads, veggies and other healthier options and to take smaller portions of the less healthy options.

Rooms at both places are basic, but they are clean and comfortable. Neither of the hotels have much in the way of amenities (spas, fitness centers, etc.). Housekeeping is pretty prompt in both places. It's very rare than my room isn't cleaned by early in the afternoon.

Some people are a little unnerved by the walk from the FSE, since it isn't under the canopy and there aren't security guards. I have never had a problem. Sometimes I will walk through Binions and cross the street right by the Cal, but most of the time, I'll walk between Mermaids and Binions. Sometimes I'll walk right up Main Street by the Las Vegas Club. No one has ever bothered me, but then I typically mutter loundly about aliens, stock futures, or how 9/11 was nothing but a media event cooked up by the networks and their allies in the Democratic or Republican parties (take your pick) to generate ratings.
We are MSS regulars, and would give them a definite nod over 4Q. The rooms are larger than the 4Q north tower rooms, and they are always clean and neat. Noise is only and issue on the North side facing the freeway, and then only on the lower floors. (Keep the fan running continously in the heater/air conditioner, and you probably won't notice it.) The rooms facing the Plaza (South Side) are quieter and you may hear a train once or twice a night - (we get used to it and never hear it after the first night.) Ask for a room with the highest floor possible and the smallest number to get the farthest from the RR tracks. (801,901,1101, etc.) I believe the odd numbered rooms all face south. If you stay there, go out the emergency exit door at the end of the hallway for a nice view of most of LV. The casino is small and attractive, with full pay VP and 9/6JOB on the bar top machines as well. I can't say enough about the beer at the 777 brewpub - I'm a big fan of the pale ale and the porter, as well as whatever the brew of the month might be. The microbrews are always available from the cocktail waitresses anywhere in the casino. Roy

Actually there is an indoor route to/from MSS via the connecting bridge between the Cal and MSS. It's on the 2nd floor of the Cal and there are many shops people on that floor (plus the Cal Sportsbook). It ends at top of escalator in MSS. A small ride down and "voila" your are in MSS! Return route is equally as efficient!
One never has to worry about returning to MSS safely at night (or day)!!

We do that same route - it is NOT an issue
