Another twist from Boyd Players Club

So I'm a low roller (mostly sports, quarter video poker, some $5 table games) and I've never been higher than Ruby. Last year after the big changes, Boyd bumped me up to Sapphire for 2019. After my March trip (weekend nights comped), I had only 115 tier points (mostly left over from the bump), but I continued to get offers for comped rooms almost every month. For August, I got invited to a kiosk promo that included two comped nights. Since it was right after a planned weekend trip anyway, I booked the free nights and changed my flight on SWA.

I fully intended to take the comped nights and stiff the Boyd casinos. There's no way I'd play enough VP or table games to get up to the 750 points needed for sapphire anyway, so I figured I'd just play at 4Q/D/Plaza to try to generate offers there.

Then today I got 300 tier points "as a thank you" from Boyd. What the hell? Are they trying to entice me to run $1400 through a slot machine to qualify for Sapphire? If so, is this happening to a lot of other people? Or are they just randomly throwing out tier points trying to find something that works?

It sounds like Boyd's is trying to entice you back!

It also sounds like they are trying to apologize for their player's club blunder.

Free tier credits? Who decides who gets 'em?

I have read that this free points thing has happened B-4.

Comped rooms as well.

Downtown:

The Fremont.

Main Street Station.

The California.

I LIKE THE MSS.

I am a long time Boyd Sapphire card carrier. Boyd realizes that they have screwed up and   they are trying to retain those who have been their customers - without coming out and admitting their mistake. The idiot or idiots who conceived their "new, better" Boyd club need to be fired - and those who approved the change need to be fired also. I know of no one who approves of the current Boyd BConnected club. Just another example of bottom line bean counter stupidity being utilized over common sense.

Matt, same thing happened to me.   I can't explain it.  I have no intention of playing to qualify for saphire again.

Update: just got back from MSS on the two free nights + kiosk game promo. From the kiosk I got $75 dining credit and 25,000 points, enough to enjoy a dee-licious bone-in ribeye dinner for two at the Cal. I played some 9/6 JoB and a few hours of $5 table games, then threw in about $150 coin-in on a slot. My tier points are only higher by about 100, but before I got home I had an offer for free nights and comped VP tournament in November.

I suspect the timing is coincidental. Curious to see what next year brings.

I just booked The Cal on a reduced rate for March 9,10 and 11,2020. There is a convention in town that week and regular prices were insane!

No chance of becoming a sapphire club member soon, anyway.

I'll spread my gaming $$$ around downtown.BJ.VP and craps.♠♣♥♦

I'll see what Boyd's spits out for me,after my meager play.

I lost my casino host at The Downtown Grand, but no big deal. She went to The Westgate.

(As usuall,spul chek noo workee.)

And do not forget they dump your points after 6 months of no activity.

I earned Sapphire during 2019 at the Suncoast by playing penny slots.   In 2019 had a win/loss report (loss of $6000 +)  and I lost my good comps..3 free nights, free play and free dining /monthly...Now Boyd gives me two nights in Vegas for $35.00/night or two free nights in Michigan City...and no other comps......Unless I figured wrong, I put $75,000 thru the slots to earn Sapphire Level...Hard to believe , but this is a TRUE story...

Go to the online Boyd site , log in. Then pick a casino where you want to stay and once you do, scroll down to where it says "book online for lowest rates". Click on that line and it will bring up a large box that you will click on -"book online". Another page appears, choose arrival date in calendar on the top left, then choose date to depart in the calendar to the right. Usually it will comp up to 2 days as comped. For a third night, you may have to pay for one night if you try to book 3 nights in one reservation. Sometimes you can make a 2 day reservation, then go back and book another day or 2 (back to back with the 1st reservation), and the 2nd reservation will also be comped. Weekend days are hard to get, but I have found that if I go back a few days later, the weekend days sometimes open up. You can try any or all of the Boyd casinos if you don't mind relocating. I find Sam's Town and the Gold Coast to be the easiest to book, then the downtown properties. This works for me and I am also Sapphire.

I'm just a lowly ruby player but I've been loyal to the Orleans for many year's, I use the same trick and get two nights comped but only Sunday thru Thursday, I've booked rooms at all the Boyd property's except the Suncoast and Fremont, only because I have no Interest in staying there, their players club sucks, but as long as they keep up the comped rooms, that's where I'm staying
