Are the changes Downtown running off the older Gambler?

I can understand the Casinos thinking that they are trying to attract the younger crowd downtown..But the Zipline, Louder music, too many panhandlers is starting to wear on the older gambler(60's) such as myself..We have a trip planned in August but have friends who are not going this year..I guess I'm leaning towards a easier and quieter gambling experience. Downtown has become too cluttered..Myself and my wife kinda of feel that the slots are tighter too..I guess there is always Laughlin but we are from Oklahoma and there is plenty of Casinos here, same terrible smoking filled though... Anyone feel the same?
Yep, Downtown was so much more enjoyable before all the Panhandlers etc.
My first stay in Vegas was 1985 at the El Cortez, so 1 year shy of 30 years ago.
I parked my car in front of the place, left it there for 3 days and everything was
fine, " that's when you could drive on Fremont St. " Drove back to Phoenix with
the 2 buddies who rode up with me, stopped at a 7/11 station which posted " all
major credit cards accepted " my bud Ron bought a case of beer, presented his Sears
card and the guy put it in the " old style " swiper gave him his carbon copy and said
thanks guys, there is no way in Hell that Sears would honor this, but there was no
electronics involved, just the old hand held machine. I even think we charged gas on
that damn card. Oh the memories !!
I still enjoy staying and playing at both MSS and the Four Queens but I don't enjoy venturing out on Fremont Street unless absolutely necessary. I usually have a car so I can go places and I only have to go to the parking garage from the hotel.
For me, although I'm not in my 60's yet, as long as there are good returning games Downtown (especially in conjunction with a decent enough returning Slot Club), I will continue going and staying there no matter what's happening outside of the casinos.

I certainly don't care for all of the Homeless people down there, but that won't keep me away from going to play decent enough returning gaming!

Me too!
All big cities have those street beggars. Normal.
My games are downtown, anyway:Best odds in town.
Way easy to get around, anyway:It's not a quarter mile to the next door casino!
My dogs HURT after a while.
I'll book another few nights at the Fremont in October very soon.
Just got back and I wanna go again.
Maybe around Labor Day.Mid seventies...Yum!
Yeah,I'll hand out a few $,once in a while.
Depends on how #*ed .......up they

look.
I like most of the changes downtown (zipline excluded). A few years ago the primary complaint was the hotels were not spending money to keep their properties fresh. Well, they've addressed that. People have returned to Fremont St and that's a healthy thing for the whole neighborhood. New venues seem to open every year now whereas before they were closing.

Yeah, i get annoyed by the never-ending rave party at places like the D...but i dont get annoyed with their full pay VP and low limit games.

Heres a good tip. Plan your trip for December. The crowds are lighter and fremont St plays Christmas music (not Hard Rock). Everything is a little more laid back

There actually are two "Parking Meters" (that have been painted Pink -- if I remember correctly] on Fremont Street that take coins that go to agencies helping the Homeless. One is at Fremont and Main (by the Main Street traffic signal) by Golden Gate Casino and the other one is at Fremont and Las Vegas Blvd. by the Northeast corner (so it's [as you're going East] across the street on the same side of the street as the Heart Attack Grill and the Deuce bus).

I don't think that Downtown has tighter slots than the Strip. If you want something quieter, there are the Las Vegas locals casinos (such as the Stations connected casinos) or stuff in North Las Vegas.

Actually, the American Casino Guide has listed Slot Machine returns by area in Las Vegas and it has consistently showed that the Locals (such as Stations' connected casinos) and North Las Vegas Casinos to offer the highest returns, then followed by the Downtown LV Casinos then followed by the Strip Casinos.

I'm all for the changes helping make downtown more popular and more successful. I'm just glad that I can choose not to be a part of the Fremont Street Experience and still enjoy myself. When I was there last month, I was going to walk to Walgreens from the Four Queens and pick up something late morning. I looked outside and it was a gauntlet of beggars on both sides so I chose not to go. I prefer to escape from reality at least a little when I go out there.

That is a good tip about December.
Sorry for the Double Posting but check my previous posting because I have added some more information.
