Where is the best place to stay downtown?
Where is the best place to stay downtown?
There are many variables to "best". Best place to play table games? Best place for video poker? Best restaurants?
Best roooms by size? Best rooms by matresses? Best hotel by price?

Actually,I would like to see what you like for VALUE,Don.
Table games.
Restarant choices.
Video poker.
Nicest rooms/mattresses.
I like the 4 Queens for VP.
MSS for craps.
GN or DTG for rooms.
Thanks for the question. Both of you.
Video Poker - By far 4Q is the best place to play. Fremont has NSUD up to $1.
Blackjack - When BJ playing friends come to town, we go to the Golden Gate.
Restaurants - Hugo's Cellar, Binion's Steakhouse, Andiamo Italian Steakhouse
The Golden Nugget is the only 4-star hotel downtown and has the nicest standard rooms...and they have multiple towers with multiple floor plans. I prefer the Rush Tower rooms which you can typically get for under $100 / night on a weekday. And they are spacious and plush.
Other than that most of the downtown standard rooms are about the same level of quality. Looks for the ones that give you the best price (take into account resort fees).
Matresses? I booked the DTG for March,2019.
My buddy is a BIG boy and he had to get a massage after sleeping at the MSS last year.
I won't stay there anymore,anyway.
VP?
El cortez has a dollar in per point. The MSS at the bar is,too.(That may have changed)
4 Q has $8 per point on VP.
The DTG has not-so-good VP.
Binion's? It's been a while, for me.
The Fremont downgraded the Pick'em machines. That WAS the only reason I went there.
LEAST smoky? I'll vote for the GN.The Fremont was the worst.
Best cheap eats?
Binions cafe,Magnolias in the 4 Q,
MSS 777 during happy hour.(3-6 and 11-3AM)
Thanks.
The rooms at the California have been upgraded and, while not large, are a very nice. The same goes for the rooms at the Downtown Grand. Both locations are less expensive than the Golden Nugget.
I've always thought that Main Street Station has the best buffet downtown for there value.Triple 7 has good beers and good sized portions of there meals. Just don't like the changes they have done to player card.Everything downtown is fairly close, if you are in good health,it's all walkable.

I looked at the GN rates and there is an extra chare PER NIGHT if you want a smoking room. Most other hotels either prohibit smoking or not charge extra for that.WTH?
The DTG should have great mattresses to sleep on and not wake up with back pain.
Actually,a massage at the second floor of the El Cortez sounds really good after a 2 hour stint of doing VP on an upright machine!
Ask Bonnie.
I'm dissapointed at Boyd's players club changes, but I will still play there....for fun and drinks.
Any new development at the Golden Gate?Rooms and mattresses? I miss Du Pars, although I don't like shrimp.
The GG has single pane windows(Historical content) and the FSE was frikken' LOUD until 1 AM.
You need to step DOWN into the room as the last time I stayed there.Perhaps the remodel has brought some good things to that property. High limit room? Maybe.Perhaps the GG players club points have not changed.
I cannot find my players card.
Binion's has a couple of cheap eats deals and I'll go there again! No coupon needed.
There was a single deck BJ at the BACK of the casino,a while back. Still there?
Maybe the "D" has new mattresses as well. The LONG BAR looks inviting.Just give me 9/6 VP and comp beers and I'll be planting my ass there for a while.
ALL of my players cards have expired. UGGH.Maybe they will treat me as a new sign up and I'll get free stuff!
Kinda funny you list Fremont Street noise as a negative for the GG. The one time I stayed there, I asked for and got a room facing Fremont Street. The windows open, and I enjoyed the noise and people watching from my room!
