Best Place to Stay Downtown

Best casino downtown as far as their players club? (Video Poker/slots).

I'll say 4 Queens or Binion's,based on points values/cost for coin in.

Plaza and The D,not as good.

El Cortez and Downtown Grand's players club is just OK.

The Boyd's properties are the least value for points.

Considering cash back and comps, that is.

Have to agree. 4Q is a good value.

Boyd really sucks after the new slot club was put in, especially for VP players.

Its been 8 yrs since I played downtown!  Just trying to sift through the comments sections to get a feel for place to stay and play VP, craps...Thats why I only go to the strip for eye candy!

The way I see it the California is best for rooms (never set foot in the place).  I always hit Fremont, 4 Queens for gaming...but one thing confuses me.  Lots of people mentioning Binions for gaming, I thought they were closed?  In fact Im looking a a schedule for renovations and reopening by July 2019?!

Lastly, where can i find a "map" or description of VP favorable machines?

Thank you for your responses!

The website is vpfree2.

El Cortez is pretty good, besides the fact that they excluded most or  all the "good machines " (vp) from the regular point distribution. The standard play is around 99 per cent on the best available vp games but if you consider that after a certain amount of daily points earned you will also receive something from the KIOSK game it's not bad at all. E-C has always treated me good and the atmosphere in the casino is very special. I don't like the noise such as at the D or Golden Gate. It just drives me crazy in there. Wouldn't wanna stay and play at the D, to be honest.

Boyd's senior day is still interesting. Just make sure to stay Sapphire, even if it may cost you a little bit. I sually play some slot machines with high jackpots in order to earn my tier points. Then by the end of the year it should be sufficient to maintain Sapphire and then you will still earn 5.50 x (half of 11x) during the multiplier days...

Boris, why would you even go to a Boyd's casino?

Stick with El Cortez and 4 Queens and Binion's. Maybe the Plaza.

I'll do the MSS only for the beers and worthless 9/6 VP.

Dave, let me explain: I have been loyal to Boyd for years, and as far as I see it, these new club rules are not written in brick stone yet. For instance, it first said that all Tier points will reset at zero by Jan1, but now they gave me 500 Tier points to get this year started. I continue receiving free hotel nights and there are a lot of ACG and LVA coupons that can be used at Boyd.  Next, on Senior Days and the other quite regular multiplier days you can still earn good point value at Boyd's properties. Suncoast and Sam's Town has had a few multiplier days every week, so the only question is whether they will continue this or not. If you play during that and even if you lose some money, the value you get is not bad.  But you are right by that, the current club rules are so bad and most other casinos give you the same games but better club rules. Especially for Video poker it's become tough at Boyd's Casinos. I actually do a mix between playing at Boyd and Station Casinos, because I like Red Rock and Santa Fe and Green Valley Ranch a lot. 4 Queens in downtown is so noisy and I have never enjoyed that coffee shop much. Maybe I will go ahead and check it out this year. And thanks for your input :)

Boris

Well put, Boris. I too stay at Boyd's (mainly The Orleans) for the same reasons.

Vegas Todd, as you know already , Suncoast is the nicest of all Boyd's properties. Really nice place in a beautiful neighborhood. Have you ever stayed there? You can use your 3 free nights at any property you like. Sometimes I pick the Suncoast, not always though. On my next tour I picked the Gold Coast because I want to play videopoker and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in there (compared to the noise at most other places I frequent).

Greetings

I've posted to other threads here that Boyd used to send me mailers and emails for free rooms.  That ended in early 2018, but since then I often find that I can get free rooms on the web site.  But they don't tell me... I have to go looking for them.  The last time I saw this was in January, where I could get varying numbers of consecutive free nights at all of their properties.  This makes no sense. I asked someone in the back office at a property about it during a visit last summer, and it made no sense to him either.  The comped nights were found by looking at the "rates for Ruby members", not through any specific offer that the site may show.
