Boris, I have never stayed at the Suncoast, I might have to check it out sometime. I've stayed at the Gold Coast a few times. Usually as a split between the Orleans. I also stayed at the Cal a few years back. I wish Boyd would offer more of their downtown properties to me like they used to.
If you wish to stay at a Boyd's property downtown and you are sapphire, just go online, choose a downtown Boyd casino, click on "special discounts & exclusive room offers for sapphire members". Then enter the date(s) you wish to visit. The site will list cost of room -or- comp. I find I can get up to two consecutive days for free when finding a date that is comped. If the casino of your first choice does not have comped rooms, check the other Boyd downtown properties, they will often have comped rooms for the day(s) you need. If you don't find comped dates that you need, just keep checking back. I have been able to book comped rooms that were previously charging $ and have later been listed as comped. This works for the other Boyd properties such as Orleans, Gold Coast, Sam's Town and Sun Coast. Give it a try - what do you have to lose? Also, this works for Sun - Thurs.; I am not sure if it works for Fri/Sat.
David, as I wrote a few posts back, I get this exact same kind of thing even though I am just at ruby level. When I looked in early January, I could get up to 4 consecutive comped weeknights at some properties, on some weeks during the first half of the year. Fewer nights at other properties on those same weeks. Other weeks, nothing at all at any property. There is just no rhyme or reason to it, they don't send me any notice that free nights are available. It is very time consuming to check all the properties and all the different nights.
And it comes and goes. When I last checked the site about a month ago, again looking forward a few weeks to a few months, nothing showed as comped.
It's like they are daring me to have the patience and endurance to hunt for these offers. I simply don't understand why they don't notify me.
I've been seeing this behavior for about a year now.
