I take it you never did this yourself? Otherwise you would have learned that you do not get a refund on your airfare, but instead a credit that you have to use within 1 year.
The refund law for cancellations for tickets purchased if cancelling withing 24 hours does NOT hold if the reservation is for a flight less than 7 days in the future.
