California Hotel

As mentioned in a previous post, I'm going down next month and plan to stay downtown. I wanted to try the Plaza until the announced resort fee. $39 is still cheap, but a resort fee is a resort fee. If you want to charge me $10 more, just tell me upfront. Anyway, I'm now thinking about the California instead. I would appreciate any comments.

Cal rooms are very similar to MSS. Never had a BAD room in either house. The biggest downer is that the windows have shutters, rather than curtains. It can be a bit difficult to keep out all of the light. When they have overbooked MSS, and had to send me to the Cal, I have never had a complaint. YMMV!

We have stayed at California several times and never had a problem - we like the newer tower though - the one nearest the crosswalk to Main Street Station. I think you will like it there.

I too apreciate the info. Contemplating a 3 night offer in August at either MSS/Cal. We have stayed at MSS twice but never the Cal. I too am curious as to what others think!!!

At MSS, ask for 10th floor and above to get the fridge. To get the tower chyna referred to, ask for the West tower. I am not sure about the availability of a fridge at the Cal. Too long since I have been there.
