cheap rooms downtown

I will be traveling to Vegas in early February and want to stay downtown; however, my main play is at Harrah's properties, therefore, I don't have much play at other properties and don't receive mailers for anything downtown. Is there a way to get a special rate or does anyone know of coupons that would get me a discounted room on a Saturday night? Thanks for the help!

We called marketing at the Plaza, told them we normally stayed on the Strip with Harrah's properties and they gave us a casino rate for a mini suite which we were prepared to pay for. My husband and I both knew that we'd probably get something knocked off, but after a few hours of play the first night, we spoke to the folks at the players club, someone found us a host and he comped both nights.

Search the hotel websites and check them out. You never know what you will find, along with sometimes the third party web sites for bookings. Watch these forums, folks usually share numerous tips on promotions. I saw someone posted and it is listed on the Plaza's web that they are discounting if you have a Triple A memberships. good luck!
