Circa Named Best Casino Resort in U.S. for Third Straight Time, Here’s Why

And, as far as decibels go, I wonder if dealing with decibels is essentially a congnitive distraction, with nobody able to do multiple things as well (play and listen) when the loudness becomes a distracting environmental variable.

Plus, loudness is a stressor. Undoubtedly raises heart rates and blood pressure. I'm not familiar with the current research, but evidently some casinos want you amped on decibels. Cheaper than free coffee, I guess.

Oh, yes, hundreds of academic studies have shown that loud noise decreases cognitive efficiency. One study I remember in particular also concluded that continual loud noise decreases impulse control. How 'bout THAT one, eh? Free drinks without the cost of free drinks.

The sports betting environment at Circa is meant to attract the idiot ploppy, not the serious bettor. He's supposed to stagger over from the pit, clutching a couple of hundies, and slap down a bet on the West Waukesha Waddling Walruses. Then, ideally, lose the ticket.

I just don't get what makes Circa even remotely attractive. Anthony waxed rhapsodic about those $26 (or was it/is it $28?) pastrami sandwiches, but really...what reason is there to set foot in that joint?

I ate at Circa three times and viewed my friend's room while I stayed across the street at Golden Gate three weeks ago.  Circa rooms and minimum bets are too high for my blood, but the place is well done and very nice.  Saginaw restaurant is a pricey Jewish deli, and the portions are large and the quality is outstanding.  8 East is an Asian joint and I found it reasonably priced and the food was outstanding.

I'll never understand why people get angry because other people can afford fancy places.  And yes, some are angry, others are jealous, and some are both.  It's a bad look, folks.

I have two issues in mind when discussing "where to eat." First, am I breaking whatever patterns I had at home? In  other words, if these same restaurants were a block away, would I routinely eat at them at home? If not, then why pay $30 for a pastrami sandwich? Because I'm a "temporary tourist?" Second, if I want to eat as an event, I'll do so, like at Oscar's or somewhere I'm comped somewhat, like the GN. But I'm not interested in having three-meals-as-events per day. I don't get off on that. Hell, I have a tough time paying $4.50 for a Starbucks coffee.

Now, conversely, if the little snack bar in the Fremont were a block away from my house, I'd eat there every day. Or if the old snack bar at the Golden Gate were a block away, I'd be there every day.

I would rather blow $200 on one extravagant event meal at Oscar's as opposed to $30 for a pastrami sandwich in a loud place. I just don't like being a tourist or being treated like a tourist.

I have never understood why the music blares so loudly at the "D" and Circa. Maybe someone can make some sense of it...

They do it to keep people like me out... and it works

Do you really not get it? It's not a matter of being able to "afford" something that's overpriced. I could afford, and I'm sure you could afford, a $40 hamburger. But would you pay that? And would you be "angry" if you said you didn't want to?

8East is very, very good.   It's also very, very fast and if you eat there during their happy hour I'd even go so far to say it's not a bad value.

Saginaw's is grossly overpriced by comparison though the food is good.   Victory Burger also overpriced.   Barry's is also a winner though you better have a comp because they charge a premium for all the eye candy floating around.

As far as the loud music I just don't get it. Especially early in the morning. We stayed at the Wynn and they know how to do it!

I don't understand why anyone cares how another person chooses to spend their money.
