Coupon Run..

Im flipping through my 2014 MRB (It will always be a POV to me though) planning coupon runs.

One route I have gone the past few years, with much success starts early morning, or sometimes Im still up from the night before..

Ill take a cab from downtown to Terribles/Silver Sevens for the breakfast buffet and some match play.
Then walk to Ellis Island for the free rounds coupon and if I need a snack, use the BBQ coupon.
Then Ill walk up the street to Stage Door Casino for a drink. Granted, a coupon is not involved, but thats such a cool spot. Its a must every trip.
This year, Ill also take in the new Cromwell then take advantage of the Ballys Drink Coupon.

Thats about as close to the Strip as I will get. After that, its back downtown.

Granted, there is a bit of walking involved, but you can stop at the Tuscany and Westin if you need to cool off or a bathroom break. But dont play at the Tuscany. Ive never, ever had any luck there, and always get a bad vibe from the dealers.

Hey Marko,

At least for me, when I go on a coupon run, unless there actually is something decent enough to play in the casino, I restrict my play to hit and run only and so I don't care what kind of "Vibe" I may get from the Dealers. When my advantage is over, I'm done playing!

That's a great point. I need to do a better job at "Hit and Run" while on my coupon runs. I tend to hang out longer than necessary after taking advantage of the matchplay/drink/food coupon.
And I usually only stop at Tuscany to cool off or grab a drink. I just don't get that place. Don't think I have ever stayed more than 30 mins. Just odd.
On the flip side, despite never having a coupon or freebie, I have always enjoyed the Westin. Nice people, cheap drinks, clean and I have had a few good runs at the machines.

somebody years ago took an LVA coupon book and systematically used colored bulletin board push pins on a Google map of Las Vegas. When you put your curser on any particular push pin, it gave you all of the pertinent information from the back side of each coupon. I wish that person would keep doing it!
As far as hit and runs, I too probably stick around too long after playing the coupon. I also have the worst damned luck with them. I bet I lose a matchplay 60% and win 40% of the time.

Hey Marko,

With me, at the most I might stay is for a hand or two longer than for whatever it takes to play my coupon through, but that's it! But it's a nice diversion, but I also don't want to stick around in any one place much -- most especially if the casino does not have any (or much of any) decent returning games.

As for Tuscany, I'm pretty sure that I have not been in there for any longer than about 20-30 minutes as well but that's mostly because they don't have the best gaming rules as well as that it's away from where I want to be. I think that the one or two times at the most that I was there was because I had a Matchplay and some Freeplay as well. But again I didn't play much since the games there (at least when I visited there) did not have great returns. For me, I'm at least vastly playing to win instead of playing for the sake of playing.

And as for Westin, I think that they have some kind of New Slot Club Member promotion if you have not taken advantage of that (if you don't already have a slot club card from them).

Hey Marko,

If you're interested, since you are going and coming from Downtown, if you want to save some money (over taking a Cab), there are some buses that you can take from Downtown to Terribles. And so this might better enable you to make use of a bus pass. For more information, check out the: https://www.rtcsnv.com website.

On the east side of the strip, gone are the Hard Rock MPs, Silver Sevens MPs, and the Tuscany MPs. So other than Ellis Island on the east side of the strip there are no TRUE MPs or FSP coupons in LVA MRB or ACG.

If you buy both MRB and ACG, here are the gambling MP, FSP, etc. options in and around the strip (I've included some food and drink options you may want to consider along the way as well).

North Strip

Circus Circus Wincard $30 for $20 and Circus Circus Wincard $15 for $10 (can be combined)

Ellis Island 50% Off Cafe Menu Item (MRB 2014)
Ellis Island Steak Special $8.95 less $1.00 play

South Strip

Hooters $10 FP (MRB 2014)
Mandalay Bay Wincard $30 for $20 (Monthly)

West of Strip (free shuttle from Strip to Goldcoast and Orleans)

Gold Coast $10 MP (MRB 2014)

Gotta disagree about the Tuscany...its one of my favorite stops. $5 Craps all day. 7/5 BP at the bar + progressive....thats decent for bartop VP (granted there are better options). And the bar is huge...you never have to worry about getting a seat there.

But here's the thing. Tuscany frequently has massive point multiplier days. 7X slots/5x VP on certain days of the week. That really makes the bartop VP fantastic. You can rack up points very quickly and they have awesome restaurants to spend them at. Marylins is a solid breakfast destination....Tuscany Gardens is great Italian Food...and the Cantina serves up some really good margaritas.

I've largely turned my back on Ellis Island in favor of Tuscany.
