Coupon Runs..

Im a big fan of a good Vegas coupon (there's a reason I'm a member of this site). I use just about all of them for Downtown.

I also schedule at least 1 coupon "run" during my trip. I research the best route to use the most MRB coupons.

Typically it goes:
Breakfast/Play at Silver 7s
Walk to EI for drinks and more play
Tuscany for lunch (if still hungry after EI)
Ill hit The Max and Stage Door for fun
Finally, cab/Uber it to The Palms for more off Strip Action.

Sometimes I get to them all, sometimes Ill tap out after Ellis Island.

At home, I wont use a coupon unless its a substantial amount saved. In Vegas, Ill go out of my way for $10 Free Slot Play. Vegas baby!

marko..
I'm the same way. At home I won't buy it unless It's at least half with the coupon. But in Vegas all coupons are on the table.

That's a nice little run. Since we usually have a rental car we include Gold Coast and Orleans on the Palms trip. Westgate is a nice addition to MRB this year, also...

Ive always wanted to rent a car, but I also like to have a drink while gambling and don't want to chance it. Plus, typically in Vegas time gets away from you pretty easy and I always run out of time..

marko..

having a rental car is key to getting the maximum value out of the coupon books - but then you have to subtract the amount you paid for the rental car (and gas) from the amount of your coupon values. Its normally a wash unless you get hot with your matchplays and really use a lot of food coupons at locals casinos.

On the other hand - I'd likely get a rental car anyway because I like exploring the city.

i also rent a car. mgm is going to make me rethink that.
you know if they get away with it harrahs will follow. and then
after that all the other hotels. makes me wonder what the
car rental companies will do to compensate.

We always have rented a car since probably our first 4 or 5 trips since the late 80's/ early 90's. It allows us to not only use the coupons we want but also to not have to eat at the pricier restaurants in the strip area casinos. Egg & I/ Egg Works, Omelette House, Sammy's Woodfired Pizza and Big Dog's (although since we now have to go all the way to N. Rancho, it's not an every trip must stop)are some of our favorites.
I'm not a big strip person especially when the weekend comes around, and of course the inferior vp payables. I have become a fan of the cheap breakfasts that some of the restaurants in the Miracle Mile Shops offer.
We did, for the first time, drive out to Emerald Island. We liked the restaurant and the two other casinos probably within one hundred yards. This may be a semi-regular little stop.
A few years ago we went with my folks & did a coupon run (the books were a bit better then, too...) We got 4 books & rented a car & mapquested it. We had a riot. I don't know that we particularly came out ahead as my father & husband didn't care for the hit & run method--they felt obligated to play awhile!
Now car rentals are SO ridiculously high, it pretty much offsets any potential profit--plus the coupon books have diminished in value in the last few years (fewer MPs/FP)
Due to several thousand in car repairs this year & an emergency room/hospital visit our slush budget has taken a serious hit this year--but I'm not willing to give up my trips; instead I am looking for ways to gamble less (especially since rooms are free or darn close, points for air, myVegas for some food & shows, Diamond club for food & drinks)...so I bought the books & am anticipating taking free shuttles/bus/Lyft (with the sign up promo) to maximize my meager gambling budget (meager in MY eyes). I have always loved good value...going to keep track & let you know!

Good luck KK.
I can say that Uber/Lyft is an amazing option over the Cabs and the ACG has some pretty coupons, but mostly mirrors the MRB.

ACG is pretty good but you really have to hustle to maximize their options. The downtown coupons have gotten lower in value and many of the better plays are in outlying areas
