Culinary workers union possible strike

Apparently the strike is focused around the funding for Obamacare. Just more "change you can believe in".
drmilled I think that could be the case. Our small local school district is projecting an additional $5 million will be required from the taxpayers to cover the excise tax due on the cadillac plan the teachers union negotiated. They currently have a "zero" copay plan. It could be that the Culinary Union currently has a cadillac plan that would require a big payout by the employers. I think the employers of unions have some big decisions to make in the next few years in regards to healthcare.
The union workers have taken a strike vote but this does not mean there will in fact be a strike. This does give them the right to strike if an agreement is not reached. Did the union actually picket the Downtown area on April 12th or was it cancelled until a later time. Company benefits that include 100% total contribution paid by the employer in most cases will go by the wayside in all companies. We live in a much differ world than when I was in the work force and the health costs have been going up for years and with OBAMACARE it will not improve.
