The D Pool

Planning my summer trip and time willing, would like to splash a little. I know MSS allows access to the (sad) Cal pool, but can you use the D pool if staying at Golden Gate?

marko..
I think the answer is yes, but it would be best to ask before you book.
yes you can. but don't get excited. the pool at the D is even more sad than the one at the Cal. it is like an old pool from a motel back in the '70s. it is street level, almost right on the corner with people walking by. also, it has more shade than I care for.

I saw some pics of the D pool online. It didnt look too exciting, but I just need a spot to relax for a min and catch my breath.

Sadly, the days of the "Rehab" pool parties have passed me by. I havent been to the GN pool, but have heard great things. I do like the Plaza Pool. Its not fancy, but its a big pool with music and when the bar is open, thats a bonus. I heard they are in renovating it for the summer season.

The pool at The "D" (aka Fitzgeralds) is really small, but functional. They also have a hot tub. The pool area is nothing fancy and reminds of something you would see at Holiday Inn Express.

And considering that for a time Fitzgerald's was a Holiday Inn this makes sense! That pool was actually put in when they added the Holiday Inn brand to their name.

My issue with the pool at the D is that you have to walk out the valet entrance toward the parking lot to get there. And... well, that's it. Your atmosphere is cars driving by on both sides and a view of the parking deck. Positive spin? My wife gets tired of it quickly and we can move on with our day.
They put that expensive fountain in and valet parking and skipped making over the pool....
I've taken a day from the strip to visit downtown. Once I got there, I felt really hungover from the night before and just wanted to sleep for a bit. We went to the D pool (just a little metal gate to get in, no security to speak of), took off my shirt and just slept there for an hour or so. There were two other people there.
