THE D RIPOFF

October weekend are very high. I tried calling the D as I had a two for one offer for rooms.

Rates posted on website are $22 Thursday 10/24, $174 on Friday 10/25, 10/26 Saturday $199. Found out the two for one offer cannot be used by itself for Friday and Saturday. If you use it for the three nights, you get Saturday free but they raise the rate on Thursday night from $22 to $174.

Two for one is almost worthless, only savings is on $20.00 resort fee which is bogus anyway. I will use free coupons with mailed offers until they stop sending them, then write them off my list of places to stay.
I had that week scheduled at El Cortez. Got call asking if I wanted to change weekend. A big festival is going on and was told they are expecting approximate 25,000 people showing up downtown for it. I decided to change week earlier. They gave me $50 extra food credit. But I'm just happy not to be in a big crowd.
Yes, people should definitely check to see if something major is happening in LV whenever they decide to come out since you never know what may be happening. And something like this could jack up the prices and have many more people than normal be in (or come to) town.

The Life Is Beautiful event is happening on Oct. 26-27, plus Neon Museum Birthday Bash on Oct. 25.

call for a host they might help you. what is Life is Beautiful event ? never heard of it until now.
Don't blame THE D....all the "nicer" hotels are doing the same thing.
and you do have to see what is going on at any given time you are there.
Supply & Demand. Crazy!
Don't forget about the worst "D" owntown BJ rules 6/5 that you get screwed out of by playing there !!
Yes, supply and demand. I know the Boyd properties downtown have been sold out on that weekend for quite some time, as that was a possible weekend I was looking at a while ago.
Big events equal more people and higher rates. Really not much of a surprise if you check ahead and plan carefully.

I've never heard of Life is Beautiful until very recently. But then that's why I subscribe to this website
