Downtown Boyds

I've stayed at MSS many times. Rooms are fine, nothing fancy, but clean. For the money the buffet and Triple 777 restaurant are both very good. I have found I receive NOTHING for table play, and receive a little something for video poker play. The hosts are hit and miss on friendliness. The bartenders are excellent. I find the atmosphere to be more relaxed compared to other downtown casinos. Overall we enjoy it.

sscccoach: That was funny!!!!!!!!!!

Some rooms at the MSS have issues with highway noise. Based upon that I would go with the California.
I'm gonna try the cali for the first time in august. 4 queens for the first time in may.

I stayed at the California last January, and will be back for the first week in June and stay there again. I loved that while I was at the Cal I got free breakfast buffets over at Main Street. Yumm! For all the fellow cheapskates in the crowd, I stayed there because unlike Fremont, Main Street Station and most of the other Las Vegas places, Cal does not charge a resort fee. I got so mad last year when I booked a room at the El Cortez and found when I checked in I was getting a sizeable extra jab as a "resort fee." For crying out loud... the El Cortez is a resort?
