Downtown Football viewing

Planning a solo trip 1st weekend in October and curious where you would recommend watching Saturday night college football and of course the Sunday pro games

A few years ago our group went to the 777 and had a blast. In those days everything you ordered came with 2 pitchers of beer. I swear that if you asked for directions you still got 2 pitchers.

Also watching and playing decent VP would be a bonus

Thanks in advance
I enjoy seeing my team's games at a local bar with similar like-minded friends. The Las Vegas Review-Journal publishes a list each year. I don't think this season's list is out yet, but here's last year's.
Thanks Chil. I was referring to downtown football viewing thus the posting in downtown section .. Sorry for not being specific
Yes, I see that now, sorry, my bad, I focused on the text and not the forum or thread title.

#1 The Plaza has a brand new sports book-new high def tvs, not super crowded with a nice bar right next to it
#2 I do not remember seeing a sports book in the Las Vegas club, Golden Gate, or Binions
#3 The Fremont has a small but very fun sportsbook. Many personalities /regulars in there and a nice bar in it.
#4 whomever designed the sportsbook in the Golden Nugget did a lousy job. The room is of decent size but the chairs (especially the clamshell booths) are facing in the wrong direction. Think sitting in the front row at a movie theater. It has no bar but does have a small window to buy hotdogs or hamburgers out of
#5 I have super good luck using the 4 queens sportsbook, but would never watch a game on the 3 flat screens in an open room the size of my living room
#6 The D's sportsbook is also new (upstairs) and is not crowded.

Over-all, I personally like the Fremont's sportsbook the best because of it's size and the local crowd. I like to watch football, have a drink and get loud.

If I wanted to watch the game in a clean more subdued atmosphere, I think I would hit the Plaza. One way or the other, I would check at least two of the sportsbooks for the odds on the game. It is amazing how different the odds are at casinos right next to each other.

good luck and let us know your findings weggie
The bar at Main Street offers good video poker and access to the micro brews there. the bars at 4 Queens also have decent (not the best in the place) poker. Both bars have very friendly bartenders and groups sitting around talking and enjoying the game. 4Q's is louder more party type than MSS. Both places with change tv to game you want also.

Yes, I think that Plaza's Sports Book looks nice but I don't know about the games that they have at their bar although I checked some out a couple of years ago and found not good pay schedules for Video Poker.

As for Las Vegas Club, they unfortunately (even though they are actually sports themed) have not had a Sports Book in many years!

If I'm remembering correctly, the Golden Gate's Sports Book is tiny and in a corner (I think on the far left towards the front of the casino) and I think that it might have a ticket kiosk or somesuch.

I do know that there also is a Sportsbook at El Cortez Casino (which is run by Stations' Casinos if I'm remembering correctly), so maybe you should check that one out too (and check there for sports betting promotions that may be going on there as well). I also seem to remember seeing signs for cheap Hot Dogs and Beer as well during Football games, but I also don't know if there is any decent VP around that immediate viscinity.

Thanks for the tips. That's the great thing about downtown.... You don't find what you want..... 2 minutes to the next joint
Binion's - "Benny's Bullpen" is a good spot to watch a game as they have numerous tvs. In my opinion, I would prefer to watch at Benny's Bullpen over 777's.
My favorite place is el cortez. They have free hotdogs for the nfl games...and really good premium beers available to vp players at the bar. My usual routine is to watch the game and play vp during the commercial breaks. You can woof down a gallon of Guiness by the fourth quarter. Oh, and you can order food anywhere in the casino.

The only thing I dont like is the crowd tends to be a little older. If you like alot hootin and hollerin after a touchdown you better go somewhere else. Most of the elco patrons' hootin and hollerin days are over.
