Downtown Fremont Wi-Fi is up and running!!

I contacted a person at www.lv.net and he told me this when I asked him if the wi-fi downtown was working yet....


The wifi is up and running and works great.

What area are you going to be in?
It only works outdoors.

On 15 Sept the only "free" wifi I found in the area was inside Hash House at The Plaza.

I am looking into booking a room for my next trip and most of the hotels (the "D" for example) use WI-FI as a reason to why they charge a resort fee. Wonder what they will have to say now to justify it?

How does it only work outdoors? I would assume any room facing Fremont St would get the signal (at least) likely other rooms too. Regardless, I would not pay for WIFI in a hotel if all I need to do is take my IPAD out to the street. Makes for a good excuse to get a drink at the Vue Bar.

It was working as far back as early May. The units are outdoors so that is where the signal is the strongest.

Where are the WI-FI units located? On the speaker poles?
